283 NIGHTS After “I DO”

Posted On Monday, February 21, 2011  by MARSHALL

Most people graciously wait for that minute to say “I DO” and kiss the brides of their dreams; for me, it was mixed feelings of great exhilaration and long-sought adventure, to hold the lady of my dream and journey through time! Â... Read more

My First Born

Posted On Thursday, February 10, 2011  by Jasmine

I was so happy when I found out I was pregnant, however I was still in college and I knew my family would not approve. Some people even brought up abortion as an option. I already had two abortions, and I deeply regret them. So I was a little on edge about how to break the news to my family. Most of my family was disappointed, but not mad. The entire pregnancy was smooth compared to stories I've heard about pregnancy being awful. I went to a mo... Read more

My preeclampsia started at 15 weeks and I delivered at 25

Posted On Monday, January 31, 2011  by jana

Hi there - I am a preeclampsia survivor ( so to speak ) I conceived with my 2nd child and was due to deliver 6/2008. Come 15 weeks into my pregnancy, I began to have symptoms and I was not sure what was going on. I had never even heard of this disease. My Dr. dismissed the fact that it was preeclampsia and brushed me to the side... around 22 weeks I finally went to another doctor on my own and they ran some tests. My protein in my urine was 11,000.00. I had to be rushed to the hos... Read more

HELLP Syndrome

Posted On Friday, January 28, 2011  by Stephen

In 1995 my wife develope HELLP Syndrome at week 26.  In order to save her life, our daughter Taylor was delivered 14 weeks early, weighing 1lb, 14 ounces.  Thankfully, my wife slowly recovered from her blood pressure numbers doubling, very low platelets and kidney failure.  Our daughter lived for 2 months in NICU and never came home.  She developed NEC and we had to make the difficult choice to take her off of life support. My wife and I went on to found the HELLP Syndr... Read more

Johanna's Story

Posted On Thursday, January 27, 2011  by johanna

In August 2002, my husband and I found out I was pregnant. After miscarrying the previous year, this pregnancy was met with caution at first, then grew into complete joy when we saw the heartbeat.  During my pregnancy, I loved seeing my belly expand.  The doctor said I had a ‘text-book’ pregnancy. I gained only 28 pounds, exercised regularly and waddled to and from work on the train.  Despite the typical swelling of my hands and feet, and lower back pain, I loved being p... Read more

Donovan's Story

Posted On Saturday, January 15, 2011  by Jennifer

Blink. White lights then nothing. Blink. White lights. No, white walls. People. Noise. Someone is holding my hand, but I can't move. White walls. I can see a television high on the wall. It's off. I can see a crucifix to the right of the television. I must be in a hospital. Good. That's where I should be. But where is my baby? Am I still pregnant? Is he alive? The only thing I am sure of is that I am alive. My husband is by my side repeating the words, "You're in the hospital. The... Read more

The lost innocence of pregnancy

Posted On Wednesday, January 12, 2011  by Jamie

My husband, Adam,  and I could not have been more thrilled when we found out we were pregnant. There was no discussion had or decision to be made... I would use the same doctors I had gone to for ten years.  OB/GYNs are baby docs, they know about babies and their mamas; what's to think about? ... Read more

The Silence is Deafening...

My wife and I met in 2001 during a press event at our company. I had just landed from a devastating divorce; she from a disappointing long-term relationship that hadn't led to marriage. We hit it off immediately. Though I had a daughter from the previous marriage, what I was missing was the sense of family togetherness. What she wanted more than anything was kids. In 2006 we were married in a dream ceremony in Florence, Italy. A year later we were pregnant with our first child and on May 25, ... Read more

Story of preeclampsia, hellp syndrome and my two beautiful children, one in heaven with angels.

Posted On Monday, January 03, 2011  by Kaylee

I'm 24 years old and in both of my pregnancies had severe preeclampsia and HELLP syndrome. My firstborn was born at 26 weeks gestation, 1lb 9oz 13" long. This was severe preeclampsia. During my ultrasounds at my check up, they noticed she was a little smaller than normal size for the gestation week I was at. It started around 23 weeks- I was swelling up everywhere, I would wake up and barely open my eyes, wasn't able to stand long because my feet were so swollen, as well as my wrists an... Read more

December 22, 2010

When December started I figured that with Christmas and the New Year approaching it would be filled with shopping, work, and dreaming about my baby due in March. It started December 8th after a job interview when my legs and ankles swelled up out of no where. I figured I was starting to retain water or something. 25 and my first pregnancy I had no idea what was going on so on it went. A few days before my December 16th OBGYN appointment I noticed that other than my legs swelling to th... Read more

Five days before my due date I started to feel sick and had a headache. I went to Walmart to check my blood pressure and it was 150/ 100. I called my ob and she advised me to go to labor and delivery. When I got there, my blood pressure was 146/ 100. They asked me to lay on my left side, so it came down to then 127/ 90. They did several labs including preeclampsia, and they were all negative. The nurse ... Read more

Pregnant and at High Risk for Preeclampsia Again

Posted On Wednesday, December 22, 2010  by Takisha

I am a 31 year old mother of three beautiful baby girls. With my last pregnancy I suffered with severe preeclampsia, which resulted in my daughter having to be delivered at 29 weeks. She weighed 2lbs 13oz. It was the most horrible, terrifying thing I have ever had to go through. Now, I am pregnant with my fourth child and my risk of developing it again is higher than 70% according to the doctors. Needless to say that I am mortified to think of having to go through that again. I know now, that... Read more

My name is Kim and I am the proud mommy of 2 handsome boys. Gabriel is 4 and Isaac is 3. I had a very difficult pregnancy with Gabriel from the very beginning. I became terribly sick in my first trimester. I lost my ability to walk thanks to my body producing too much of the relaxin hormone in my second trimester. Finally in my 3rd I developed severe preeclampsia.... Read more

I am not sure how to start this story out. Brings lots of sad memories. My fiance' (at the time) was away at Air Assault school in Georgia while I was in Maryland. He had got medically dropped for breaking his hand. The same night while he was waiting to fly back I started to feel really sick, and contractions were back to back with no break. I was persistant on waiting an hour or until I had six within the hour. They eventually stopped after I got up and walked around, and drank water. He go... Read more

Surviving Preeclampsia and Learning to Live- by Renee Feagan

Posted On Monday, November 29, 2010  by

I am a severe preeclampsia survivor. I still dream about January 18, 2006.  I vividly hear the shrill of my daughter's heart alarm as her tiny heart has stopped beating from inside me, I feel my body convulse uncontrollably, and I see the panic in the nurse's eyes as she yells for help.  The last thing I remember before the anesthesiologist put me out was staring into the harsh glare of the operating room lights and crying to myself - is this how it all ends?  ... I was diagnosed at 27 weeks and 5 days

I found out I was pregnant in Jan 2010, 6 months after I had gotten married.  I was estatic because my younger sister had just announced that she was expecting two weeks earlier!  We would talk on the phone everyday about how we both hoped they were girls and how we would dress them alike and all the bows we woud make. My pregnancy was progressing great until May.  I am a teacher and I remember the day of TAKS retakes I had to stand and walk around a lot. I was exhausted a... Read more

Severe Post-Partum Preeclampsia

The day after Halloween I went to my 35 week OB appointment.  Everything seemed to be a whirl-wind from the moment I stepped into his office until I was rushed to the OB Triage area of the hospital with complications due Preeclampsia.  I was surrounded by a team of eight doctors as they informed me that they needed to get my baby out or both our lives would ...
