I am writing this to let everyone out there know that there is hope! I was 19 years old when I got pregnant with my daughter, Nicole. I had only been married for not even a year, I was so excited. I made all of my regular appointments and did everything that my doctor told me to do. After Christmas, I was around 18 weeks I began to swell, and notice that my shoes would not fit, ect. I went to my doctor and she took my blood pressure (bp) and it was high, and I was spilling protein into my urine. She became worried, so I went on bed rest for 1 week, and returned to her. My protein was even higher and bp was the same. My doctor had me to do a 24 hr. urine test, when it came back she immediately sent me up to University Hospital in Oklahoma City, now OU Medical Center, I was greeted at the door, and sent right into the Maternity Ward, they were expecting to take my baby right then ( I was now at 20 weeks). I had a team of doctors around me because I was a very unusual case only being 20 weeks along. The doctors decided not to take the baby that night and keep me on strict bed rest (bathroom privileges only) and give me bp medicine and see if that would help. Well, I stayed there for a week and my symptoms stayed the same. I was sent back home for strict bed rest and a visit to my doctor once a day w/ a 24 hour protein test done everyday. I did all of that for a week, and my doctor and the doctors at University decided that I was getting worse, so back to the hospital I go, now at 22 weeks. I was admitted and monitored every 30 min to an hour for the next 4 LONG weeks, until one morning I woke up by the team of doctors that said |
