My pregnancy was going great I was so excited for my first child. Then out
My pregnancy was going great! I was so excited for my first child. Then out of nowhere things got bad. At 28 1/2 weeks I woke up completely swollen EVERYWHERE! I called my ob/gyn &and they told me to come in. When they took my Blood Pressure it was 188/110. I was then sent to the hospital where they kept me for 8 hours monitoring me and my baby. Eventually the swelling went down a little and my BP became better so they diagnosed me with Gestational Hypertension and put me on bed rest (which is not fun!). I was put on BP medication and had to see a perinatologist twice a week and also had to have a NST (non stress test) twice a week.
At 32 weeks I became so swollen I couldn't move. The doctors admitted me into the hospital with a BP of 210/140 and were ready to deliver the baby that day. Not really knowing how serious preeclampsia was, I lied and told the doctors I didn't have blurry vision or wasn't seeing spots even though I was. Foolishly I was fighting to keep my son in me a little longer. I made it 5 1/2 days before my vitals starting dropping and the ultrasound showed his were starting to drop as well. I had an emergency c-section on Friday April 23, 2010 @ 6:35pm. My son weighed 3lbs 11oz and was quickly rushed to the NICU. I was put on magnesium right after and was told I still have preeclampsia and will have it for about 4 more weeks.
My son is now doing great and has made so much progress in one week. I just wish I knew about this disease because I never thought it could happen to me. I did everything by the BOOK. I put myself in serious danger and I only did it because my son's vitals were perfect until the 5th day. I get to take my son home on May 16th when he would have been 36weeks and still inside of me. For my next baby I will be considered a "high risk" pregnancy from the start. Every pregnancy is different so I have nothing but positive thoughts and I am not scared to get pregnant again.
I wish everyone all the health, happiness and luck in the world.
My little miracle Jax Dorian.
