I began my 3rd pregnancy at the age of 35 with chronic hypertension. The pregnancy was fairly uneventful till the 33 week. I was put on bedrest due to highblood pressure and protein in my at +3. I monitored my pressure at home and made visits to the doctors office for non-stress tests. One friday ( I was 34 weeks ) my pressure at gone up to 180/110 on my left side. I had a headache the night before. I called my doctor who said come to the hospital. While in the hospital the non stress test was not reactive. The baby was moving very little. The biophysical profile-ultrasound was done. The score was below normal. They suspected the baby was intra-uterine growth retarded due to the high pressure. I agreed to a cesarian section, to be done right away. I was anxious , praying for a healthy baby. Upon recieving an epidural I had a grand-mal seizure. It was the most unpleasant-horrifying experience I had ever had. I was rushed to the operating room. I delivered a baby boy with general anethesia. I was given mgso4 -loading dose to control the seizure-which it eventually did. My son weighed 4lbs-1 oz. His apgars were 1-9. He is now 8 years old and incredible smart. He is a miracle baby , and I thank God for him. My advice is take pre-elampsia seriously, it can kill you and or your child christy t |
