It all started just like many others; this was my second pregnancy and everything seemed to be going just like normal. I was 34 1/2 weeks pregnant and I started to have pains in my stomach, and the on call doctor advised me to get some bed rest and drink plenty of fluids. I did this for 4 days and the pain wasn't getting any better, still the doctor said bed rest and fluids was my best bet. At midnight on June 4,2002, I awoken to a heavy feeling in my stomach and as I stood up my water had broke. I then was rushed to the hospital by my husband, were I started to loose my vision and began having contractions. By the time a nurse had checked me at 12:40am I had dialated to 4 centimeters and they were having troubles finding Miana's heartbeat, they then placed a probe on her head to get a heartbeat. From this point I had dialeted to 10 centimeters and the babies head had crowned and came out in one push. Miana was 3 lbs 14oz 16 3/4 inches long and the nurses took her to a table to begin working on her. I never heard her first cry or any signs of life from her. After 30 minutes, the pediatrician came in the room and pronounced her dead at 1:15am. From this point I was able to hold Miana to say our goodbyes to our precious little angel. As I remained in the hospital for the next 6 days I had several medical problems, along with my failing sight I started multi system shut down, with failing kidneys, high liver enzimes, a horrible loss of blood at delivery. After all was said and done, I buried my little baby girl on June 10,2002 the day after I was released from the hospital. The autopsy reads, suffered from efixiation due to delivery from plasental abruption caused by preeclampsia. I will cherrish the 9 months that I carried Miana and the short time that I was her mother. She will live in my heart as well as in my dreams, as forever our angel, Miana Simone Byrd~~~June 4,2002.......... |
