So protein went from 320 to 500 something in 2 weeks. My dr said she isn't going to up my labetalol til i hit the 160/110 criteria. And, delivery won't be until I am consistently having those bps and over the 5,000mg protein mark. Please keep me in your prayers!! My personal goal is 32 weeks at this point (thats when my DS was born). Just want to keep baby and mommy healthy and pregnant a bit longer!!!!!

So my protein levels are increasing.... all other labwork okay. Bp was 144/70 at its highest while being monitored. So..... blah. Not news I wanted to hear.

They may bump your meds. There are a lot of open questions about just how aggressively to manage hypertension in pregnancy--you don't want to be overly aggressive, because of the effects of the meds, and because there's a theory (which I may not explain too well) that the fetus is used to your baseline, a bit like a thermostat. So, if treatment is begun during pregnancy, they won't have as low a target as they might in a non-pregnant patient. But, they can and do adjust meds to keep you in a good range--they're just not as tight as they would be. Unfortunately, BP control does not seem to change the development of preeclampsia--we manage chronic HTN in pregnancy because it's better for you and baby if we do.

I began my second pregnancy controlled on meds and even though my baseline controlled was under 120/80, they maintained it that way (it rose slightly in that pregnancy but no superimposed PE).

Good luck!

Bloodwork results-- platelets, liver enzymes, uric acid all within normal limits. White blood cell count aelevated but they didn't seem concerned. Turn in another 24 hr urine tomorrow.

Keeping my fingers crossed for some more weeks for baby to grow.

I'm keeping all crossables crossed that your labwork comes back great and you're able to "limp" along. We've been limping since 25 weeks (now 32) so it's definitely possible! Like you we still have plenty of room to adjust meds as well. Good luck!!

Dreaded dr appt. --- was sent to l &d for nst and bloodwork. At office my bp was 154/84. Here in l &d it was 146/76. Urine dip at office was negative. Will be doing nst 2x/wk. And 24 hr urine once a week. Also, got first steroid shot, will get 2nd one tomorrow. Being sent home in a bit. Praying I get to 'limp' along for awhile. 27 weeks is just not long enough for me....

Woke up to a bp reading of 132/82.... so its starting to go up now. Still on lowest dosage of labetalol. Do they try upping your dose or just leave you and deliver once it gets to that critical point?
