I was overweight by bmi standards for my first 2 pregnancies. After I developed severe pre-e and hellp at 23 wks, I asked my mfm how much I should lose before ttc and she told me my weight wouldn't really make much of a difference in her opinion. True enough, I went in to preg #2 about 20 pds heavier than I started my first disasterous pregnancy, while I did develop GD (I have pcos so that's pretty common), I didn't get pre-e or hellp at all the 2nd time despite extremely high odds of it due to my severe early onset case the first time.
I agree to talk with an mfm first. Good luck!
