I had hydronephrosis with my second... ouch! I remember it causing a ridiculous amount of lower back/flank pain. Never fun to feel any pain around your midsection while pregnant, it can be so scary. I hope it will resolve itself quickly.

Got my ultrasound results!
Right kidney has moderate to severe hydronephrosis while the left side is normal. Gallbladder and liver are normal!
I also got my DMSA scan from 2010 that showed a split kidney function of 40% left and 60% right with decreased activity and scarring in the left kidney. I already knew this but I'm not sure how it is interpreted.
My Dr reviewd the ultrasound and said that everything was "basically" normal for pregnancy. My back and stomach have been aching more and more as each day passes and this could simply be from pregnancy. I am interested to see how my appt goes Tuesday. I hate to be so whiny but I am looking forward to the end of my pregnancy. It is getting so uncomfortable!

Yikes about the abdominal pain. Keep us posted on what you find out in regards to your kidneys. Hope all else is going well!

So I ended up getting my ultrasound early since I had the history of IUGR and THIS baby is measuring in the 56th percentile! YAY! He's breech, but I'm sure he'll turn (I hope anyway).

I ended up having some horrific abdominal pain, and although I don't think it's related to HELLP/PE, I still mentioned it to my DR because it causes anxiety attacks and tears at night time! They took my blood yesterday for liver/pancrease/etc function and did an ultrasound this morning of my gallbladder/liver/etc. During the ultrasound, the tech noticed that I had hydronephrosis of my right kidney... he then checked my left kidney (although wasn't planning on it originally) and said that one looked normal. He actually said the measurement of my left kidney was 10cm and the right kidney was 13cm and there is usually only a 1cm difference between the two. I don't remember EXACTLY (and hopefully I'll get the ultrasound results soon) but at my LAST kidney ultrasound in 2009, my left kidney was 8cm and my right kidney was 11cm... Again, I don't remember. I'm not sure what this all means but I'm hoping that the most recent ultrasound will explain some of my weird symptoms. If I am correct about my 2009 ultrasound, then I think that would mean that BOTH kidneys are swollen and not just the right one. I'll just have to wait and see what the medical records say and what my current DR thinks! I'll keep y'all posted. I appreciate all the support you ladies give during these stressful pregnancy times!

I had my 3 hour test and passed THANK GOD! I am now 29 weeks. I ended up having what looked like "bloody show" a week ago but after getting checked out, it ended up being nothing (or at least not preterm labor). I'm not sure what caused it but unless it happens again, I'll just chalk it up to being overly active that day!

My BPs have still been somewhat consistent, with only a slight increase. They now range from 115/75-130/85. I wish I knew how my BPs progressed last pregnancy, but in all reality, I will still feel like a ticking time bomb until that 31/32 week mark where I got diagnosed last time. I have an appt this week right at 30 weeks and an ultrasound at 32 weeks so we'll just have to wait and see what happens! At least now I'm on every other week appts!

I failed the one hour bad enough this time around that I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes. I've had to change my diet somewhat but that seems to be keeping my glucose levels in check for now.

One study found treatment of even mild GD lowered pregnancy risks: ... 50&p=35668

Good luck on your 3 hour test!

Went to the dr today!

My BP was 118/74, which is elevated but still good! I told my dr of all my symptoms and after a urine sample and pelvic check, everything came seemed normal. I even reduced my normal water intake so my urine would not be diluted!

They did a glucose test today... I failed :(
They wanted glucose under 140 and hemoglobin over 11. Mine were 163 and 10.6...
Anyone know what this means? Obviously I am going to do the 3hr test now, next week in fact. Not sure how GD might affect the pregnancy though... I'll be doing a lot of research today!!!

I was also diagnosed with HELLP/Pre-E last pregnancy without ever having diagnostically high blood pressures. It can happen, and you can get sick pretty fast (or not). I agree with the previous posters recommending that you get the upper right quadrant pain checked out soon. The blood work is simple, cheap, and fast, and it will let you know if you have any reason to worry. I had the pain before my BP shot up. The bleeding is probably also worth a phone call to your doctor. They should be watching you pretty closely this time, and they can only do that effectively if you report your symptoms. I wasn't good about that, and it caused me to get really sick. I am now a "better safe than sorry" convert.
I hope it is nothing to worry about! Many PE symptoms can be normal pregnancy stuff, and it is important to get the lab results so that you don't have to guess.

I agree with lemons that some of your symptoms you are describing sound concerning (especially the spotting and/bleeding and the upper right quadrant pain) and you might want to check with your doctor before Thu.
I wonder if you have what is called Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction (but I am not a doc), that causes your pelvic pain. Ligaments and joints loosen during pregnancy, to prepare for birth, and can cause this type of pain. In any event, please mention this to your doctor, so you can get a proper diagnosis of what is causing this pain.
