Sorry for your loss. We lost our second son last Fall due to a placental abruption from severe preeclampsia. I developed HELLP as well. We have a 4 year old - I had PIH on him and was induced at 37 wks. I am currently 11 wks. pregnant and my physician suggested I start taking ASA 81 mg a few weeks back. I take one before bedtime. I'm not sure how it would affect the bleeding.

Asprin is a blood thinner- a second opinion can always give you extra peace of mind- and whenever you choose to take it, I would be sure to let your dr know. I will be keeping crossables crossed that when you get pregnant you have a most uneventful and peaceful pregnancy!

I am sorry that you lost your precious baby boy. Understandably, you want to do everything you can to prevent this to happen again. We all differ and come with different medical backgrounds and conditions. I would do as your doctor recommends, as he knows and understands your medical background best.If you are uncertain, perhaps it would help you feel better if you got a second opinion? I realized there are no hard and fast rules when it comes to PE and what can or can't be done. I started LDA with a positive home pregnancy test. I also took extra calcium, Vit D, Folate, Vit B 6 and B12 (last three due to MTHFR), prenatals.

I've taken it from a positive pregnancy test for my second and third pregnancies, no pre-e for either, though the lda may not have had much to do with it. Who knows.I did not have issues with bleeding.

I did tell him about the bleeding at the appt and he said it would be okay and to go ahead and take it upon a postive test. I am so confused! I am tempted to go ahead and take it anyway. I'm not sure how it would affect the bleeding. I do bleed almost the entire first trimester (have with all of my pregnancies and no one knows why unfortunately).

I'm so sorry for your loss. Does your doctor know about the 1st trimester bleeding you had previously? I wonder if this would impact the unique recommendation for you.

Hmm, I have to take baby aspirin daily already due to autoimmune and blood clotting issues. I take it the whole time we are TTC, so definitely before a positive pg test. I have never been told otherwise, even for this most recent pg.

My mfm told me at my appt to start it when I got a positive pregnancy test (I was wanting to start it now). However, when I received his report of recommendations it stated to start aspirin at 12 weeks. I called and spoke to the nurse who said the dr. researched further and found the latest research says to start at 12 weeks. Is this true? I was worried about taking it throughout the first trimester because I bleed a lot and wondered if that could be harmful so if 12 weeks is the new recommendation that would be great. But it seems to me that at that point the placenta is already formed and fuctioning and it might be too late. What do you think?

Also, it stated to take calcium supplements (Tums) throughout. How many a day?

Any other recommendations you all have? Vitamin D or anything else.
