I am so sorry you had preeclampsia in your first pregnancy. It is quite a difficult ordeal and not at all easy to deal with.
Have you been put on low-dose aspirin? And have you been tested for underlying disorders like clotting disorders? Also, most doctors recommend to take BP at home regularly (once to twice a day, same time every day) and report the numbers back to the doctors/nurses. This will give them a good idea if your pressures are trending upwards.
I was scheduled for an elective c-section, but also b/c I had an emergency section the first time around, which means no vaginal birth afterwards. I ended up with severe PE in my second pregnancy, but it set in later and the doctors delivered earlier before I got too severe. I spent two weeks in the hospital to be monitored when my BP and urine started to show signs of PE. I felt that I was cared for really well.

Many women, however, have healthy, PE-free subsequent pregnancies. It is just unknown why some of us have it once and others more than once.

Good luck and let us know if you have any questions. Fingers crossed.

Pre-Eclampsia in 2nd pregnancy

I am 15 weeks pregnant with my second baby.
I got severe pre-eclampsia at 34 weeks with baby number 1, and was really ill. My baby was delivered at 35 weeks perfectly healthy, but I spent time in High Dependency and was not very well at all.
I am really scared that I will get pre-eclampsia again, as I have read the chances are high the more severe it was and the earlier it was. I saw my consultant for the first time yesterday and got really scared as he seemed to think it was quite likely I will get it again :(
Has anyone on here had it a second time? I want to have an elective C-section because of the trauma last time, but they seem really reluctant to let me have one :(
Any advice gratefully received,
Julia xx
