If I remember correctly, after my first, it did take a while, but my BP did return.

After my second, however, it never went back down and my "new" baseline is 140/90 - lucky me.

Have you met with your regular doc (not OB) to discuss the what ifs of having long-term high bp?

Hi I am sorry you developed Pre-E I had my son 1/1/2014 and I am still dealing with High blood pressure. I was on labetetol 3 times a day 200mg dosage(which is apparently a lot) until this week. My BP is finally starting to lower so I'm down to 2 times a day 200 mg. My doctor said it could take up to 6 months for it to return to normal.

After my second baby, my blood pressure peaked a weak postpartum on a high dose of meds. It slowly came back down over the next several weeks before stabilizing at a new (higher than pre-pregnancy) baseline.

Mari,

Sorry to hear that you are dealing with the consequences after. I can imagine how hard it must be. Thank you for your reply. I guess I am taking it day by day now. Just wish this blood pressure would go back to normal.

Hi, I am sorry you developed pre-eclampsia. I think recovery time can vary. I have seen 6-8 weeks post partum, a few months, and then people like me who went on to have chronic hypertension a few years after. What helped me was to see my internist a week or two after delivery and then come up with a plan to monitor my kidney and liver function, as well as treat the hypertension.

Hello ladies, I was wondering how long will it take to recover. I had my little girl 12/05/13 and I am still dealing with blood pressure issues. Will it regulate itself. It just seems never ending, and I feel hopeless.
