It would be the very rare doctor who would treat someone with your pressures with antihypertensives...we happen to know one of them here so it may seem like that is the bias but your doctor's opinion is just as sound and valid as any other and based on a lot of medical research opinion. I mean--he is with the majority in his belief. As long as he is being cautious and you are as well--you are in a good place. Most bad things happen when either the doctor and/or the patient doesn't appreciate the situation and ignores the signs. Neither you nor your doctor are doing that so I would feel good but of course--pay close attention and call in if there is any change. Do you have a home BP monitor? I wore mine out. [:D]

Thanks Julie and Anne. I feel much better about it than I did Tuesday. Anne, he actually spent quite some time explaining to me his opinion that treating PIH with meds does not work and that it in fact doesn't buy any extra time. Since I'm not at a time in this pg when I need them I chose not to argue, but seems to me he should check out some of the expert opinions on this site. Anyway, I'll be 36 wks Sat and so I'm feeling much more comfortable about it and will as every day goes by. As you say, though, I'll continue to watch it closely. Thanks for your thoughts.

Sounds like the doctor is doing what we call "watchful waiting" which is very standard care in this kind of disease...probably 90% of the doctors out there would do exactly the same. The goal is usually 36 weeks in a case like yours...Everything after that is gravy. Some might give you antihypertensives but most would not with your BPs only what they consider "borderline high". You are right to be very alert to any changes--any time day or night--don't let the fact that it is a weekend keep you from heading straight in.

OK, I'm home and here to report. My bp at the Dr this am was 143/92, but the NST was good (reactive hb, lots of movement and still no contractions, which is good). Also, my urine only showed a very slight trace of protein. BP is obviously slowly climbing, but Dr. says that as long as everything else is good, he wants to keep going a little longer. He's still waiting for my bp to go to 150's/100's and stay there before he'll consider me in the "danger zone". He did spend a long time explaining to me that I may not make it to our scheduled delivery date of 11/19 (DUH), and that at this point he's really only looking at a week ahead at a time and if I can make it to my next appt next Fri he'll be happy. OK, we'll see. At the rate my bp has been climbing it could hit that danger zone early to mid next week. Of course it could be tomorrow or not at all. Who knows, right?

So anyway, I feel a bit better about it all, knowing the NST and urine dip passed the tests today. How do you all feel about the situation? Any thoughts for me?
