A couple of posts back, I mentioned that my OB decided my BPs were stable enough to take me off my meds and give the 2nd trimester a go med-less. I was ambivilent about his decision, but figured he knew best. The past 10 days or so, I've been having those "labile" pressures -- great bps resting, but moving around they've gone up a bit (130s & 140s). Now tonight, I went to my nutritionist who I began seeing pre-preg, and she informed me I had gained 7 pounds in one month!!! (We don't believe its due to over eating; I've tried to watch my diet fairly consistently and had only gained 3 lbs to this point). Although I don't have any obvious swelling yet, I knew that couldn't be a good sign. My OB agreed. I just got off the phone with him, and he decided its too early in the pregnancy to let a bad trend start with my BP. So back on meds I go.
Tomorrow I start Aldomet 500mg 2x/day. I had really hoped that maybe, just maybe, I could have a NORMAL pregnancy this time[V]. I guess with any type of hypertensive disorder that effects pregnancy, normal is out of the question. I just hope the aldomet works for me. It didn't do such a great job in Preg. #1, although by that point my bps were through the roof and I was already very swollen. I'm keeping my fingers crossed this time...
