Lots of ladies here have had successful subsequent pregnancies after having preeclampsia a first time. Some got PE again, some didn't. That's the thing about PE, you just don't know.
I do agree that especially if you conceive twins you should be monitored closely by a perinatologist. Being pregnant with multiples does increase the odds a bit, and you do have a history.
Sounds like you did a bang-up job with those boys though! I know of at least two moms who delivered twins before 31 weeks, and they were PE free!

Here is a link to someone who had this same question and the responses she got quite recently:

As to whether you should try again, here is a link to an "ask the experts" response to that question:

My own personal advice would be to discuss this with a perinatologist/MFM specialist before trying again.

chances for pre-e a second time??

Hello all:

I have twin boys who are almost two! Hard to believe it - the time seems to fly by...sigh. So - I am looking for advice, experiences, etc.

I am thinking about trying for another baby...or two (twins!) - since we have fertility problems - we would definitely go the IVF route and of course, that means we could have twins again! We would only go back with 2 embryos at the most.

So...here's my issue. I was diagnosed with pre-eclampsia at 29 weeks with the boys - was placed in the hospital and delivered them via c-section at 31 weeks. They stayed in the NICU for 7 weeks - but they are healthy, happy, well adjusted boys - no significant medical problems - thank goodness. I am wondering if anyone has dealt with the second pregnancy/pre-eclampsia issue...

advice is needed - should I go for it?

Robin
