I'm chiming in late, but I would get it before TTC if you can. It wasn't out yet and so I'm not getting it at all (I'm also not working and pretty low risk for getting the flu). For me, since there is no mercury free version (even the thimersol free versions that they say are mercury free have trace amounts of mercury), I won't get the shot while I'm pregnant, but that's just me.
I'm more worried of the risks of the vax than the risk of getting the flu.
Last year was the only time I've ever gotten a flu vax (the H1N1 mist), and I've never gotten the flu before, even though I'm a teacher and spend many years working in daycare with sick kids all the time. So I'm especially not worried about the flu now that I'm not even working.
