My son was only 5 weeks early but I think he is a little delayed even for his adjusted age. What is the earliest age they evaluate babies for the first time?

I know you aren't supposed to compare him to other babies his age but it is hard because his cousin was born ft 10 days before him and is way more advanced than Evan. I think the fact that he has slept for 4 months might also have something to do with it.

My oldest child was in this for speech and has since graduated to the school version (3+)

Though our standards here are a bit different then other places (either 2 25% delays or 1 50% delay)

EI evaluated and worked with my son for his first year. They re-evaluated him when he turned one, and he no longer qualified. (The child has to display a 25% delay from their birth date age to qualify for services here.) I LOVED it! She gave us information on what to expect, and worked with him to make sure he stayed on target. Even though I know he doesn't need it now, I do miss the constant supervision now.

I just want to make you aware that you are most likely
eligible for early intervention services. I believe it
is a service provided in every state in the US geared towards
stimulating children developmentally ages birth - age 3.
I provided this type of service to children in New
York and New Jersey for 2 years and saw many victories during this time. This service is usually free. Some states, require a very small
fee though, depending on income.
What you would need to do is contact Child Find, within your
geographical school district. They will then assess your child
to determine if your child would benefit from this service.
