Today was Michael's 9 month check up - even though he'll be 10 mos on Saturday.
He is now 14 lbs 8 ounces (naked), 25 1/2 inches long, head is 44 inches....he's not on the charts at all for height/weight yet..25th percentile for head. He just started sitting up on his own last week - but not yet pulling himself up, etc.
We have a follow up hearing test to see IF he might need a hearing aid to help with his loss in his right ear. Tomorrow we go for a free eval for his head just to see how his head shape is - his "soft spot" is closing correctly but his shape might be off, flat in the back a bit and ears are a bit off. Have to contact our Birth to 3 program for free eval regarding PT, his hip muscles are a bit underdeveloped tone wise which makes him a bit wobbly when he sits still. So we'll see IF he needs any additional help. He got a flu shot, second dose in the next month or two (when they get them in) and the H1N1 when it comes in as well. Passed annual eye test. Must do 2 Pulmicourt nebulizer treatments per day to keep the bronchial airway open.
Dh and I realize that Michael is probably more than 8 weeks behind with some motor skills - pulling himself up, standing up, moving into a sit position...granted he was 8 weeks early but he was a small 32 weeker so he's probably any where from 2-3 mos behind. To me, as long as his brain development seems to be fine and he's healthy..well, he'll catch up. I
'm not worried about any one thing, my focus is on making sure his head grows correctly and his hearing is okay (he's had 3 ear infections now) and his asthma is under control.
I can't get over in 2 1/2 mos he'll be 1 already!
Here are a few pics.
