Children's High Blood Pressure

Post by hols537 » Sat Aug 25, 2012 03:02 am

My former 32 weeker, now 5, just spent a few days in the hospital for abdominal pain. Fortunately, he's out and doing fine - no definitive cause was found. But, incidentally, they found his blood pressures to be high during his stay, even when he wasn't in pain. Some of his readings were even numbers that would be high for an adult, so a very scary situation. We are going to be following up with his pediatrician and are hoping it's just a case of white coat (they did check his kidneys and those are normal). I was wondering if anyone else had a preemie or PE baby who suffered from high BP as a child? He is not overweight at all and very healthy and active otherwise. Would love any thoughts or input on what to think about and ask the doctor on Monday.
