Thrombophilia Mediates Lowering Cardio Risk Factor

Women with thrombophilia had significant lower total- and low-density cholesterol, were more insulin sensitive, and had better microvascular function.

So having a thrombophilia -- in this small study -- meant you were better off! Women with thrombophilias had better cholesterol levels and better vascular function postpartum and had better insulin sensitivity (smaller waist-hip ratios, less diabetes) than the women without them.

That probably explains why so many polymorphisms are appearing in our genetics. There's a minor positive selection effect.

*sob* I wish I had a thrombophila! :)
