Again, I am so sorry for your loss.

I'm glad you scheduled a preconception consult, it was the hugest help to my husband and I. We feel so much more informed going into pregnancy #2. It is still terrifying but, we feel like we'll have great medical care and that we won't let any symptom go unnoticed...

I have a little suggestion - if you have decided to try again in July, you might want to make your peri appt for a bit sooner than end of June. They may want to run some tests and some of the result may take a while to get back. Trust me when I tell you how frustrating it is to be ready to try (after waiting 8 months...) and have a dr. tell you that you need to wait a couple more...

Thanks for all your responses and welcome, it really helps knowing you all. After "talking" to you all, I am definately going to meet with a peri to discuss all of my issues and concerns, I made an appointment for late June. I briefly discussed with my OB at my post pardum check-up and he was pretty nonchalant about it. Just saying, yes you can get it again (about 15% chance) and wait 6 months to TTC again (think that was mainly from the c-section). Not really too indepth, when I was on mag for 5 days (3 days after delivery), my kidneys and liver were having problems and on BP medication for a month after and of course the worst part my daughter died.

April & Tracey ~ I am so sorry for your losses also.

I am so very sorry for the loss of your babies. I, too lost my little girl, Ila, in February of this year. It is so devastating.

My husband and I will be TTC next month (June). I will be 32 in September, and ideally, we would love to have at least two children (plus, of course, our angel!), so we kinda feel like we don't have too much time to play around with.

I am very nervous about the whole thing, but also very excited -- moreso than I originally thought I would be. Initially, I worried that all the "naive excitement" factor of first finding out would have been stripped away by our tragic experience. Now I tend not to view things in a much more positive light, and I think knowing I will be watched over by a Doctor (high risk specialist) I have so much faith in helps.

Have you gone for a pre-conception consult? I found I had to -- we talked about a lot of this stuff at my 6-week post-partum, but it was so much to take in, on top of the emotional aspect of returning and seeing everyone again...Anyway, I just went back two days ago, and am so glad I did. Just to go over everything ONE MORE TIME...

Yes, I have had all the blood tests to see if there is an underlying disorder, and they all came back negative. So, I don't know why I got PE.

Like Renee, I am so sorry for the loss of your babies.


My husband and I are going to try to conceive again later this year, and we're both scared this time around, even with a good outcome the first time around and the best care. (Post-partum was when my preeclampsia acted up.) Our OB/GYN (high risk OB/perinatologist) is extremely knowledgeable in hypertensive disorders of pregnancy, easy to talk to, answered all of our questions, and told us what to look out for. For us, we had the utmost confidence in our medical care, and it was so important.

Still, I don't think the worries ever go away, even with the best of care. For us, it's not our doctor, or his nurse, or any doubts about the care, it's the fear of "what if?..." my hypertension goes out of control, or I can't get to the hospital in time when I can't see anymore, or--the list can go on and on. My husband and I have talked about it, but we're sure we wanna try again. Even with the worries, we know that medically we have the best care--and I hope that you find it, also. It makes all of the difference. (On board with Renee about finding a high risk OB/perinatologist who really knows his/her stuff about hypertensive disorders of pregnancy.)

I'm so sorry for the loss of your babies. My dd was born at 26 wks due to the horrible beast PE and I thank God everyday that she is with dh and I--she turned 2 in March. Dh and I are TTC# 2 now--this is our first month.
Have either of you had a workup by a high risk OB or perinatologist? Sometimes PE may be due to an underlying disorder--and sometimes they never find the reason. But it's worth getting them to draw blood to test for these problems. Somewhere in this website there is a list of bloodwork/tests that should be done for women who have experienced PE before TTC again. (( Could someone please list the link for them please?))
I was found to have one of the anticardiolipin antibodies which indicates a clotting disorder. My OB says this is best possible explanation he can give me for my PE. We have a treatment plan ready for when I get pg again. I feel much better about it this time around.

First of all, let me say that I am so sorry for the loss of your daughter. I know that pain all to well. Congragulations on TTC in July! I can totally understand where you are coming from. I lost my baby girl due to PE/HELLP in March. I would like to try again sometimes soon, and I know I will. But the thought of loseing another baby to this thing really terrifies me. But at the same time I have hope that if I do get preg again that PE will appear much later, and my baby will have a fighting chance.

Hi - I was so glad to see this forum. My name is Jill and I have a son 4, who I had PIH beginning at 30 weeks and delivered him at 36 weeks. I also have a daughter who was born at 30 weeks due to severe PE, who was born and passed away in January. I am going to be TTC in July.

Think it great to have this forum as we all TTC again after our PE experiences. I am so excited to TTC again, but also a bit scared, thinking about getting PE again, scared for a baby and me. Do you all have the same worries?
