Hi I am Tami, I am 33, married. I have one son who is almost 4 - I had some slightly high BP's with him, but never diagnosed as pre-ecclamptic. I also have a daughter who will be 2 in April. I was GD with her and otherwise had a very normal pregnancy with low BPs actually. 2 weeks after her birth I was diagnosed with Guillian-Barre syndrome and was on life support for 5 days. a few hours after extubation I noticed my BPs rising(180s/100s) and my co-worker and I commented stupidly "hey if i didn't know better i'd bet its pre-ecclapmsia". A few hours later I noticed my vision was pixilated while sitting up watching TV and within moments i was blind. They thought it was from sitting up too long so they put me to bed and I started to be able to see color blobs. I remember nothing after that (10pm) until 5am. During that time I had 2 siezures. They thought it was from the extremly heavy doses of narcotics i was getting for pain control for Guillian-barre and decided to stop all meds and reverse them with narcan. That brought me out of my stupor enough that I could see the monitor and my mom. BP was 180's over 120's I figured with the blindness and stupor and BP that I was pre-ecclamptic and I tried to tell them that - it was pregnancy related and that they should start mag. sulfate before i seize (didn't know i already had), but I had expressive aphagia from a suspected mild stroke and could not get the words out effectivly and gave up. I literally thought "eh F**k it, they will figure it out" lol. I had another siezure before they finally consulted OB and did MRIs, CTs, U/S, EEGs and confirmed that it was pregnancy related. They put me on a drip to control the siezures, but I stopped breathing so they reintubated me. I remember nothing from 5am when i woke from the pain until i was re-extubated 2 days later. Apparently I was interacting and communicating with family and nurses - requesting pain meds and to be pumped ( i was pumping my breasts during my entire hospital stay every 2 hours). I was in the ICU for another week, then med surg for a week and then a month in inpatient PT mainly for the Guillian-Barre (caused me to be totally paralyed from the nipples on down and extremely reduced sensation and abilities above), but probably the stroke caused issues too. I miscarried in Jan. and will be trying again in feb. andI'm looking for people like me to chat with
