Hi, I have been reading this board for a little while but this is my first post. I had severe preeclampsia with my first pregnancy that started at 28 weeks and my daughter was delivered at 33 weeks, she will be 3 in May. After I had her my doctor told me I only had a 10% chance of getting it again. I didn't find this page until after I was pregnant with my son, before finding this page I had never heard of an MFM or a 24 hour urine test as my doctor never mentioned them. Now I wonder if I might have had a mild case of preeclampsia with my son as I did have high blood pressure starting at about 20 weeks and was put on BP meds but the urine test they did at the office always came up as only trace protein. Our son just turned 6
months old and we aren't thinking of trying any
time soon but I would like to know if its even a
good idea to get pregnant again. So I found a peri
that is just around the corner from where my
mother sees her cancer doctor. I called and talked
to them to see what I needed to get a pre-pregnancy consultation then I called by regular Ob/gyn to get a referral. The nurse I talked to at my doctors office really made me mad, she kept wanting me to see the mfm that is in there building and asking me why I even wanted to see a peri and then she asked me if I was even sure this doctor I wanted to see even did pre-pregnancy consultations. I was nice as I could be and explained everything to her even though it was really non of her business, So now I am waiting on the peri to get all my records so that I can get an appointment. Sorry for the vent but the nurse really made me feel like I didn't know anything and was bothering her.
