Thank you so much for your reply and thanks so much for your kind words. :) I actually have an appointment with a MFM this thursday. I have sent my past medical records as well as the medical records for my children. What are some ways the MFM can minimize my risks? Can you please provide questions I should ask my MFM? Thanks so much! :)

Robin,

I am so sorry for your losses. Both incredibly heartbreaking. I wish we could send you more than virtual hugs for all the pain you are enduring.

Your post doesn't indicate what kind of medical care you have sought, but my first reaction to your question is that if I were you I would spend some time with a maternal-fetal medicine specialist to examine your particular situation, your risk factors, any underlying issues - some that could possibly be addressed before trying to get pregnant again. I wouldn't accept a blanket statement like "we just don't know." While that IS true and there are no guarantees in this world of making babies, there are several areas where a very thorough healthcare provider could look to try to minimize your risks. That said, he or she is also in the best position to assess your risk and discuss surrogacy.

If you're not sure where to find an MFM near you, check out the Physician Locator at smfm.org.

TRYING AGAIN AFTER 2 LOSSES SHOULD I USE A SURROGATE?

Hello everyone,

My daughter Jasmine was born 1 pound 2.5 ounces at 24 weeks into my pregnancy. She was so amazing and doing so well. :D She spent 2 1/2 months in the hospital and finally made it home but passed away from SIDS in 2001. In 2003 I tried again and had my son Jordan. He was born 1 pound 2.5 ounces as well at 26 weeks and was very sick. Unfortunately he never made it home. He lived 28 days. I had preeclampsia with both of them. Just typing this brings sadness to my eyes. I really want to try again but I am fearful. If you were in my shoes and you had the opportunity to have a surrogate carry your baby would you do that or would you try again on your own? Thanks and god bless!
