EVENTS PLANNED IN DAVENPORT TO RAISE AWARENESS OF PREECLAMPSIA Iowa Governor Chet Culver has signed a proclamation recognizing May as Preeclampsia Awareness Month in Iowa. A Preeclampsia Awareness Weekend is being planned in Davenport, with two events aimed at raising awareness.

Preeclampsia Awareness Night at the Ballpark:
Friday night, May 8th, will be Preeclampsia Awareness Night at Modern Woodmen Park, as the Quad Cities River Bandits host the Cedar Rapids Kernels. A special guest will throw out the first pitch, and those in attendance whose lives have been affected by preeclampsia will lead the 7th Inning Stretch.

5th Annual Preeclampsia Awareness Walk: The annual Awareness Walk will be held Saturday, May 9th, at Brady Street Stadium. Opening comments will begin at 9am, with the Walk starting around 9:30am. There will be door prizes, silent auction, and several new kids’ activities. Refreshments will also be provided. Online registration is available at , or e-mail . The Awareness Walk in Davenport is organized in memory of Shelly (Warner) Bridgewater, who in January 2005, at 25 years young, lost her life due to complications of severe preeclampsia, one week after the birth of her daughter.
