I am reminded of this post today as I reflect that I am 38 weeks pregnant today. I go in for a doctor appointment tomorrow and I have noticed similarities with this boy to my previous son, just slowing down at this time as all of us didn't expect the pregnancy to last this long. The baby is tired of being in the womb without a view and I am exhausted in carrying him around as he dropped a week ago and still not much activity as far as contractions since last Monday's hospitalization.
The only thing I can hope for now is that he is no longer sunny side up. I had to pray for head down, now I have to pray he turns around and faces the correct way to be beneficial to both of us. Induction is set for Thursday night if I don't hear back otherwise after tomorrow's appointment.
This pregnancy holds another milestone in that I have never worked right up until the day of delivery before! I worked until 32 weeks with my oldest, was slammed in hospital for 4 days with severe PE and then sent home on bed rest for 1 month until delivery. I worked until I was thrown in the hospital at 23 weeks for my second but that didn't end happy. I worked up until 13 weeks along with third and was paranoid to do anything but just walk on occasion. I worked until 20-21 weeks with my fourth delivery but then again became overwhelmingly paranoid to stay home and protect the pregnancy. This time around? Yes, I've been paranoid but I have also been listening to my body and watching for signs closely. No swelling, no bp issues, I have a sit down job and I am able to walk around as much as I want so I don't go crazy. Walking the couple blocks to get lunch I believe has been a blessing to keep me active and keep things in motion. But here I sit, 38 weeks along and still coming to work for a full shift. To me, unbelievable!
