wow I have been seeing pictures sent back from the field at work and it's unbelieveable. We have 2 people from our office deployed to Baton Rouge right now. I work for the Corps. Small world.

Hey, Cara, I looked at your school's website....amazing and sad. I teach at a Catholic HS in South Carolina, and we're right in a hurricane zone too, so it's scary to see what Katrina did to those buildings. Thanks for sharing. Glad to hear there's at least some progress towards normalcy in your area.

Just wanted to see how everyone is doing and give the hurricane update.

FEMA has paid my grandmother off..(he he that sounds funny) for her house and she is waiting for the land $ now. She's moving to the Northshore (mandeville area) and getting a condo. My parents are doing ok. They still don't have a lot open and most places close by 7 or 8 but the malls have re-opened. Some of the flooded stores have not though. So there's limited selection. Baton Rouge is still insane. We do our errands suring the week b/c the traffic is so bad on the weekends! DH is still in Lake Charles and Cameron Parish. I'll figure out a way to post the pics he took. They are interesting!

I went down to New Orleans on Monday to meet with the Corps of Engineers and to get there, you have to go past the bar we frequented in High school. That area was unbelievable. Those houses were so gorgeous, old and full of character. They had water lines that just blew your mind away!! The bar looked like it was somewhat spared but it had the water lines as well. Just sad to see places you love closed and nasty looking, you know?

The HS I went to posted pics on their website and I was just amazed. The site is www.mtcarmelcubs.org You scroll to the first story that says, "Let us Restore Mt Carmel" and has a "more here" hyperlink. (I'm not trying to get anyone to give $$ or anything....just wanted you to see some pics.) And yes, I went to an all-girls school...don't laugh.

Anyway, how is everyone else faring?
