I would encourage you to check out the following websites. One is for the North American Society for the Study of Hypertension in Pregnancy (www.nasshp.org). They include all the specialists and researchers in hypertension in pregnancy--the best of the best. Click on "Addresses" and you will have to scroll down through the list to find one in your area but that would be my NUMBER ONE piece of advice. Our Medical Director and co-founder here is one of their founders.

Two is www.smfm.org which is a larger group but is the Society of Maternal Fetal Medicine and they represent all the "Maternal-Fetal" medicine doctors in the USA. I would start with the first.

The thing about posting names is that as a nonprofit, if the doctors donate to us and then have their name up it is viewed as "advertising". It is hard for us to cross reference (in 100,000+ posts) whose name is posted with who is donating and so to avoid all trouble here we just don't allow names to be posted. This also keeps us from having to be responsible for whether or not they are any good, or not, as well as the reality that people do take advantage of message boards to advertise.

You may have noticed we have a call for study participants on the main page. All calls for studies have been evaluated and reviewed by our staff and placed on the main page or on their own page after a) we determine the study is legitimate; b) it matches our mission and values; and c) the study manager does pay a fee for placement. This way we can be certain that the studies we post support US while we support them. It offsets the cost of running things but we do not just post any old study.

That might be a place to look for local doctors. We will be posting more studies there sometime in the near future and if you know of a researcher who wants to post a call have them contact us.

Essentially--we avoid 2nd party citations of names--that means we don't speak for or about others--we just speak for or about ourselves. This helps us avoid issues with being sued for saying a doctor is bad, or the issue of advertising and our nonprofit status (tricky lines to tread) if we say something good...

We are not TRYING to be web Nazis...just trying to be accountable to laws that bind us. :) Thanks for listening!

No need to apologize! Like I said, it is great to be seeking out specialists. I just thought I'd make sure everyone was aware of the need to email you directly with a response...otherwise I'd be editing the information you are looking for out of everyone's posts because of the guidlines. Not too helpful for you! [;)]

Another option that just occurred to me is that you can call your insurance company and ask what peri's are on their prefered provider list, etc. That could be another way to find doctors locally...and perhaps save money while doing so!

Our registration agreement asks that you avoid specifically naming doctors and medical facilities. This is in order to protect the Preeclampsia Foundation against legal issues, which would enormously hinder the Foundation's mission of support, education and reseach.

It is great to ask this question and seek for quality medical care, but due to the above rule, anyone responding with names will need to respond via email (if your profile is set to accept emails).

Hi all! I'm in Alexandria, and from what i understand, we do not have any peris or high-risk specialists in town. Anyone know if there are any good ones to recommend in Monroe or S'port? (I grew up in Ruston, and I'll swear by Johnny's Pizza too!)
