i was admitted for hospital bedrest at 32w4d after my 24hr urine test came back very high for protein. at 33w1d i woke up in the middle of the night with epigastric pain. my labs were taken around 6am and HELLP was diagnosed by 8am. by noon i was induced. then it was determined that she was breech and induction was switched to a c-section. labs were plummeting and i was put under general anesthesia and my daughter was delivered at 3:42pm at 3lbs 8oz.

I was told I had HELLP at around 5am and baby was taken via c-section at 5:27pm because of my labs going to poo.

We were diagnosed at 29 weeks and made it to 36w6d, when our induction was started, and lil' one arrived the next day- full term! We managed mostly at home until the end.

I'm so very sorry for the loss of your lil' one and wish you a long and uneventful pregnancy for this lil' sibling.

Thanks so much guys! I wasn't expecting to see so many who delivered so soon after diagnosis. Kind of scary. I'm hoping if I do get it again PE and/or HELLP that it comes a lot later. I'm just praying to make it to a safer time (don't necessarily know what week that is). There is a lot that's being done differently this time around. I'm on baby aspirin, they've already gotten a baseline for 24-hour urine, and just monitoring very closely. So, I feel much more comfortable. Wish me luck!

Wow! 26 weeks. So interesting.

I was diagnosed just a handul of days before delivering... it was very rapid, but I don't think that's the case for everyone.

There's usually a big difference in rate of progression between first and second pregnancies, because the fact that you have been pregnant before makes it easier for the placenta to implant and develop properly. So PE tends to be milder and later in subsequent pregnancies.

My PE was managed for slightly over two days before delivery, just long enough to get steroids on board. They started an induction, but things were going downhill too quickly and I got a Caesarean about 51 hours after they started the steroid shots - we just made it through the 48 hour window for acceleration of lung development.

I am really sorry for the loss of both of your daughters. HELLP is brutal.

Our daughter was delivered a few hours after diagnosis. That kind of timeline is not unusual for HELLP. The average time between diagnosis and delivery for PE in general is about two weeks. Many posters seem to hang on for a relatively long time with slow moving PE, so it is possible.
