Thanks for your interest in the Walk. Unfortunately, there has not been a Walk in central Iowa. The only Walk currently in Iowa is the one in Davenport, held the last 3 years. If you are not able to organize a Walk in your area, we welcome you to join us in Davenport on May 10, 2008. Thanks.

I would be interested in participating in a WAT. Is there already one being planned in the Ames/Des Moines, Iowa area?

Kathy Maguire and I had a good call yesterday and we anticipate scheduling a call sometime in early December for those of you who have made commitments to organize a walk for 2008. Will get a message out the week after Thanksgiving.

We are also trying to recruit new organizers/sites and plan on having our regular meeting starting after the first of the year. I apologize if we are a "tad" late. My being new and the effort into "Saving Grace" may have delayed things a bit . . . but we'll run REAL hard to make sure we catch-up.

We may or may not be scheduling for Mothers Day weekend, based on what other walks will be going on around our area...but it will be within a week or two of that date, for sure. I'll email you with some ideas!

I was told that the date will be the Saturday before Mother's Day, if possible, so that is May 10, 2008.

I don't think a date has been set yet, but the official WAT kick-off meeting will be soon.

Our team consists of only 2 local San Diego moms and two Orange County moms (100 miles north), and are looking for ideas to get a big sponsor(s). Care to share your lists? I could use the brainstorming help.

We have secured the same site as last year, but I am hoping that we have such a large turnout that it will be unavailable next year due to the size of participation (wishful thinking probably).

Becky, I haven't heard anything official, but we in Wisconsin have put a goal in place and distributed a list of "ideas" for gaining walkers, supporters, volunteers, donations, etc. I'm sure the list of ideas will continue to grow. Our next decision is "where" in town we will homd our WAT. We are hoping for a more "visible" location this year! Nice to "meet' you here on the boards though! Welcome!
