Re : Preschool and Preemie attachment

<t>It's a big deal when you send them off for the first time. I found it hard to not be aware of everything they did and I didn't get a full report about their day like I did with the daycare. HOWEVER, it is them growing up and learning to be independent. I don't know if it has anything to do with b...

Re : New mom of a preemie

<t>Take some solace in your husband's positivity! What you described was exactly what I felt. The twins were 29 weeks but that still seemed so very small to me. Hubby just thought they looked beautiful and he says he knew they would be fine. He spent lots of time in the NICU. I couldn't bring myself...

Re : Tubes Tied during c-section?

<t>I had the discussion with my OB and if I was to have a C-section then I would get my tubes tied. Similar reasons, I was 38, 2 pregnancies that were not easy and 3 healthy children. Seemed a no-brainer to me. My OB agreed. Turned out I didn't need C-section so hubby had to get snipped, but it real...

Re : Size of 30 weeker?

Just to pipe in here - my twins were born at 29 weeks 2 days and were 2 lbs 2 oz and 2 lbs 4 oz and no one ever said anything about IUGR. If your 30 weeker is 2 lbs 11 oz that seems fine to me. Please remember that ultrasound weights are notoriously off.

Re : Whats next?

<t>That's amazing that she is doing so well with her oxygen, especially since she is so little. We brought the twins home just after their due date, but they were a little bigger than yours. They were just ove 1000 and 1100g. The NICU is a roller coaster with good days and bad days. Statistics seem ...

Re : Need advice on Gifts

<t>I would have loved to have gently used preemie clothes! We had 2 and it was crazy trying to find some and I was surprised that the NICU didn't seem to have any suggestions about where to look besides new which became expensive pretty quick for 2. We used the ones the hospital provided for a while...

Re : Kindergarten and Prematurity

<t>Hi, our twins were very similar in build, so I have another track to consider - how does your daughter sleep? The twins were also very small, didn't eat much and really had very little stamina and then during a routine developmental assessment the assessor noted that they were both mouth breather...

Re : Straight to HELLP

<t>I went straight to HELLP. No pre-e. I was fine in the dr office in the morning having a glucose test and then 18 hours later BP was 160/110 and protein off the scale, med evac'd and later determined HELLP. I was 28 weeks when it happened. They did stabilize me for 5 days before the twins were bor...

Re : Subsequent Pregnancy after HELLP

<t>I had HELLP with the twins, no underlying disorders and didn't get in to see an OBGYN until I was around 10 weeks. The reason they did the US was that I was an older mom (37) and to rule out twins again, nothing to do with my previous HELLP. I didn't get into the high risk dr until after the US a...
