Post-partum regulation of chronic hypertension

Hey, all. So I'm now ten days post-partum, and my doctor seems as concerned about my blood pressure as she was in the weeks leading up to delivery! I went into this pregnancy with well-controlled chronic hypertension, and I'm writing here to see how long it took other "chronic" people to get that BP...

For heaven's sake! I cannot believe what I am reading about the medical response you are getting. DEINITELY get to the hospital, preferably one that will treat this seriously!

Re: 38wks Why is BP staying 160/90 all night??

This makes me very, very nervous for you--and it bothers me that you feel your doctor is not taking your concerns seriously enough. Those are some scary high numbers, and I don't buy the idea that it's your WORRY about headaches that's causing the BP to go up. Why the waiting until Monday for induct...

Trevor James, Dec. 23, 2:32 a.m.

Well, of course the very day (2:32 a.m., to be exact) that we scheduled our c-section, our son, Trevor James, decided to arrive via emergency c-section, due to spiking blood pressure and a hemmorhage from placental previa. He was born at 35 weeks to the day and is doing pretty well, off the ventilat...

I have a date set!

I am so excited to be at the end of a difficult pregnany. After a long talk today, my doctor and I agreed to schedule my c-section for 12/31. The baby will just be past 36 weeks and may therefore not be quite ready to come out, but as she put it, things are just starting to get a little too "interes...

Re: PIH Diagnosed

You ARE in a good place, and all is not lost. I had PIH with my first and third, PE right at the end with number 2, and now I came into number 4 with chronic hypertension. I'm at 34 weeks now, and while my BP is staying in the upper 1402/90s (with meds), I haven't developed PE. So hypertension does ...

Re: almost 37 weeks

Soon! So very very soon! I, too, know EXACTLY how you feel. We want what is best for our little ones, which often means keeping them right where they're at. Yet we also want all the fear and suspense to end. The fear is the big thing for me, as I watch my diastolic pressures stay up higher than they...

Re: No pressure, right? (so to speak)

I miss those days of being able to fudge dates a bit with little kids. Alas, my oldest two are 12 and 9. You can't get ANYTHING past them. My oldest son has already informed me that if I (a) give birth on the 24th or 25th; or (b) bring home another red head (so far he's the only non-red head kid in ...

Re: No pressure, right? (so to speak)

It isn't tragically high yet--mostly mid 140s/mid 90s. But more and more of those diastolics are getting to the 99/100 range, which is higher than they were during the last pregnancy when I had my placental abruption. But yes, we can do it! I think several of us are due to deliver right around the s...

No pressure, right? (so to speak)

So I had an appointment with my OB today (34 weeks today! Yay!), and she's not loving the way my blood pressure is trending. Still no protein in the urine (but I haven't done another 24 hour collection in over a month), so I'm feeling quite positive and anxious to have it all over with in a couple m...
