Re: Anyone have another child after having HELLP?

I had HELLP at 36/6 with my first, who was born 2/15/12. I delivered a healthy baby boy six days ago on 4/4/14 at 39/1 with no HELLP at all! I was scared the entire pregnancy, but I am so thankful for a wonderful doctor and my own diligence in watching myself. It was totally worth it.

Re: bloody noses and insomnia

When I was in the hospital with HELLP, I had a lot of bleeding from my nose. Have you had a platelet count done? Stuffy noses are very common in pregnancies...not sure about bloody noses, though.

Re: Questions to ask Dr at each visit

I had HELLP at 37 weeks with my last pregnancy. My daughter just turned two and I am currently 34 weeks with a boy. Believe me, I have been pretty paranoid this whole time! However, I'm feeling very relieved to have hit the 34 week mark. When I got pregnant this time, my doctor had a plan in place f...

Re: HELLP.....NOT the second time!

This is the story I have been waiting to read and hope to be repeating soon! Congrats on the two of you making it through your pregnancy ok. I am currently 33/4 with my second after having had Class 1 HELLP (no PE) with my first. I am being monitored closely through blood work and so far everything ...

Re: Anyone have another child after having HELLP?

Hi Whitney, I delivered my daughter at 37/1 due to sudden onset superimposed Class 1 HELLP (no pre-eclampsia for me!). I am currently 26 weeks pregnant with our second and will be starting close monitoring at 30 weeks with weekly labs to check my platelet count and liver function. For the most part,...

Re: Slow Onset?

Most information out there seems to indicate that HELLP presents very suddenly, but I seem to recall some posts from others in this forum who developed their symptoms over several weeks. How often are you having your blood checked? I would probably be in L&D every day with those symptoms, just to be...

Re: Conceiving Closer Together = Decreased Chance of Recurra

Thank you for that - despite all the reading I've done on HELLP since having it, I've never heard of some of those things mentioned! Do you happen to know if the two-year window starts at delivery? If I were to get pregnant within the next few months, they would be just about two years apart. I'd pr...

Re: HELLP with no symptoms?

Like you, I was very fortunate to develop HELLP at full term (though I was only 37 weeks). I've read that the later on in your pregnancy you develop HELLP, the better your chances are of not having it in future pregnancies. You are probably in the best shape of all HELLP survivors to go for another....

Conceiving Closer Together = Decreased Chance of Recurrance?

Hi ladies, I developed HELLP with my daughter when I was 36/6 and delivered her at 37/1. I've read that the later in your pregnancy that HELLP presents, the better your chances are of not having it in future pregnancies. However, I've also read that the worse your class is, the higher your chances a...

Re: Second pregnancy after first with PE/HELLP questions

After developing HELLP without PE at 37 weeks, my doctor told me that I would not necessarily be considered high risk with a future pregnancy, but that I would definitely have blood work done much more often. For me, the upper gastric pain came on suddenly on a Monday afternoon, by Tuesday morning I...
