Re: Slow Onset?

Update: While I have been fortunate that things have been relatively stable for a while, I have had steadily increasing BP for 3 days now. I have made it to 35 weeks, which feels like a huge victory. My diastolic is up to 85, but hasn't hit 90 yet, so I'm trying to take it easy and get a few more da...

Re: HELLP Syndrome - 2nd Pregnancy RUQ Pain Early

First of all, best of luck with everything! I had HELLP with my last pregnancy as well, although mine presented much later in the pregnancy. I just reached 30 1/2 weeks with my second pregnancy and have been experiencing URQ pain since early in the second trimester. Like yours, it seems to come and ...

Re: Slow Onset?

Tree: How did you know when the ongoing discomfort got to the point that it was serious enough to need addressed? Last time for me, I only knew because my water broke spontaneously. I can't actually say that the URQ pain got any worse by the time my liver enzymes went up, which makes it hard for me ...

Re: Slow Onset?

Thanks for checking in. I am still very thankful to be limping along. I have days where I literally feel like my liver is going to burst, and then days where the pain is no more than a dull ache. My blood pressure has stayed at a nice and steady 100/70 (give or take a few points) for a few weeks now...

Re: Slow Onset?

If the URQ pain gets dramatically worse again and/or I have a reading of 140/90 or higher, I am supposed to go to L&D. The URQ pain comes and goes for me, so it is hard to gauge from that alone. I plan to at least call her office if something doesn't feel right. She is still going to run labs at eac...

Re: Slow Onset?

Laura, thank you so much for sharing this; it was exactly what I needed to hear. Sometimes you feel a little crazy still telling the doctor that something hurts when the numbers don't back it up yet. It's good to know that I'm not the only one who has had an experience with symptoms like this, and i...

Re: Slow Onset?

Update: My liver enzyme/platelet numbers continue to be in the safe range, which is wonderful news. My blood pressure, however, shot up over the weekend, so I may be headed into preeclampsia land. I have read that you are more likely to have pre-e for the second pregnancy than to have a HELLP recurr...

Re: Slow Onset?

Thanks for the crossed fingers :) I am getting my enzymes checked at each 2-week appointment. My bp started going up a little more yesterday with ringing in my ears and more vomiting. Since this did present slowly for me last time, I am hopeful that I can wait it out until my next appointment in a f...

Slow Onset?

I am in my late second trimester of my second pregnancy. I had pre-eclampsia and HELLP with my first, thankfully with a happy outcome (healthy baby girl of 2 years now!). I am experiencing symptoms exactly like my first time, which includes general malaise, dizziness, and upper right quadrant pain (...
