Re: Wanting a third. 1st severe preeclampsia and 2nd almost PE

Unfortunately, there is very little you can do to prevent preeclampsia. It is not caused by food, so eating better, while a great idea for your overall health, will not prevent it. There are no herbs or detoxes proven to help. The only thing that is proven to lower your risk is low dose aspirin, and...

Re: Proteina Alta y despues negativa

Re: Blood pressure issues

Some of us have a genetic tendency to develop high blood pressure at some point in our lives. This is one of the possible causes of PE in the first place. Then the physical stress of pregnancy can trigger the chronic high blood pressure earlier than it might have shown up otherwise. This isn't becau...

Re: Concerned about daughter's pregnancy

It's hard to watch someone else go through something. I know after my first PE pregnancy, my mom was on edge for all the rest, for mine and my sisters'. Your daughter is aware of the signs and symptoms and will get checked if anything shows. Her doctor is doing basic screening at all appointments, a...

Re: Pre e with 4th baby only... Pregnant again

It's unusual to have PE for the first time in a later pregnancy, but not unheard of. There are a lot of possible causes that we think contribute to getting PE, and figuring out which ones apply to which women is difficult at best. It's possible it was just bad luck and that this one will be better. ...

Re: Girls, 2nd pregnancy with no pre-eclampsia - is it possible?

The good news is most women only get preeclampsia once. The bad news is the biggest risk factor for having it in a second pregnancy is having it in the first. The earlier and more severely you get it the first time, the greater the risk the second time. But of those who do get it more than once, mos...

Re: 23 weeks 24 hour urine result 262. History of Pre-e

By itself, it probably won't be a concern. If you have a number of other symptoms, it will be taken into account as part of the whole picture of your health. Protein has actually been determined to be a less important symptom. It's still something they keep an eye on, but you don't have to have it a...

Re: 23 weeks 24 hour urine result 262. History of Pre-e

When they run a baseline, they want to see if/how much protein you spill regularly. Some of us do spill quite a bit due to a bit of kidney damage from our previous pregnancies. They won't worry too much until you hit 300mg over your baseline, so in your case, around 550.

Re: Severe Swelling

Generally, swelling of the feet and legs are considered a normal part of pregnancy and not a symptom of preeclampsia. Swelling of the face and hands is a red flag and worth seeing your doctor. Are you on salt restriction because of your high blood pressure? If not, increasing your salt intake can he...
