Re: Hello, new here

Hi fragglefan! Welcome! I'm sorry that you had to find this site, but you will find a lot of great resources here. I found this website after I developed HELLP and had no idea what happened to me. It has been a great help. First of all, I would take some time familiarize yourself with the symptoms o...

Re: Why did they keep checking my blood after my csec?

This happened to me as well. I remember asking them if they could please use my other arm as I was all black and blue. Because of the IV, they couldn't. I remember thinking that I looked like a druggie with all those needle marks. Ugh! It was horrible. I'm sorry it stressed you out.

Re: Atypical HELLP Syndrome

I am sorry for your loss too. I never showed any signs either. Blood pressure and urine were always fine, until I went into labor. The only sign I had was the horrible pain in the upper quadrant. Kristin, I too was told that the baby must be pushing on my ribs or the pain was from my uterus expanding.

PE vs. HELLP

Hi all! Just another question that came to my head: Are your chances better to have another child if you only had PE vs having HELLP? I hope that this makes sense. Some days I feel like I'm grasping at straws. Since I had HELLP with both pregnancies I probably I won't have another child but I was cu...

Re: Stopping at one child because of HELLP?

Anna, I understand how you are feeling. My situation is a little different, but I can relate. I do have 2 children but I dreamed about having a large family. I developed HELLP with both pregnancies but didn't know I had it until after my second child was born. It has taken me almost a year to say al...

returning to your OB/GYN for routine stuff

Hi all! It's time for me to go for an annual check-up, but I have very mixed feelings about going back to the midwives I saw for my pregnancy. Let me say that I loved the group, and I felt very comfortable with them for all routine women care. However, I'm upset how my HELLP situation was handled. I...

Severe PE = Hellp???

<t>I have been going through my medical records and noticed on some pages it is written that I had severe pe but then on others it says hellp. So my question is this-Is hellp considered severe pe? Are they 2 separate things? Is this a matter of semantics? Do some doctors use them interchangeably? <b...

Re : Where is this epigastric pain located?

<t>I also had "band" pain and it was under my boobs. When I asked about this terrible pain, I was told it was probably the baby or my uterus stretching. I would always get the pain at night. I remember it would keep me up for a couple of hours and nothing would ease the pain. It is just horrible!!!<...

Re : 2nd pregnancy after HELLP?

<t>I developed Hellp with both pregnancies. Luckily, my kids and I are ok. I did not know that I had hellp with my 1st pregnancy until I received my medical records. (I requested them after my second child was born.) I would second the idea of having a preconception appt. with a MFM. I too thought I...
