Re: Chronic hypertension controlled on meds - why induce?

I'm back! :D We did induce at 39 weeks - those 140 BP readings were becoming more and more frequent. I think my body was almost ready anyway, since I went into labor with just the Cervidil. SO happy to have avoided Pitocin this time! This, along with having hired a birth doula and using her coping t...

Re: What was your experience on labetalol?

This will sound funny, but I love labetalol! I am on 100 mg twice a day and it takes my BP down from 165/110 to 120/70. I have no side effects with the medication, and it controlled my BP well while pregnant. Also - when my BP got high but before I went on meds, I was a very anxious person. Panic at...

Re: Chronic hypertension controlled on meds - why induce?

Wow, that is really just about the same situation, we're even on the same meds but they are handling it quite differently. Although - sometimes the nurses and doctors are not on the same page so definitely check with your main doctor what the plan is. They may not start discussing it until 35 weeks ...

Re: Chronic hypertension controlled on meds - why induce?

Thanks all, that helps a lot! I decided to go ahead with the 39 weeks induction, and feel thankful I have made it this far with no problems. I'll keep you posted after I deliver, we are inducing on the 16th. This board has been an amazing source of information. All I really wanted was the data to ma...

Re: Chronic hypertension controlled on meds - why induce?

Thanks everyone! Caryn - so in other words a distinction is no longer being made so much between "chronic hypertension" and "pregnancy induced hypertension" - they are all falling under the umbrella of "gestational hypertension" and being recommended for early delivery due to the most recent researc...

Re: Chronic hypertension controlled on meds - why induce?

Hi, thanks, all my labs have been fine. Very low protein in urine, great platelet count etc. etc.

That is exactly their explanation "we don't want to risk it". But I don't feel right taking the baby early if there are no indicators for delivery.

Chronic hypertension controlled on meds - why induce?

Hi all, I have not been back here a lot this pregnancy because it has been uneventful! Such a blessing to have no swelling, no preeclampsia symptoms, no bedrest this time... I'm at 38 weeks right now, and feeling great. The BP has been well controlled on 100 mg twice a day labetalol, but I had two b...

Re: How's everybody?

I got through the first trimester, and am feeling very good. I have my 16 week appointment this Friday, and then the first anatomy/growth ultrasound as well as the first MFM visit in 3 weeks. Hope all that goes well. No changes in my BP despite being in my second trimester. Just the regular 130/80 I...

Re: this may be a wierd question but...

I also wouldn't worry about it. Your exposure (if any) from using the product as directed is likely minimal. If concerned, open more windows when using the product or try natural cleaners while pregnant (I know a lot of them don't work as well as synthetics, but they should cover the basic cleaning ...

Re: Am I developing pre-e?

And yes, it is quite common to develop PE late in pregnancy.
