MFM appointment today

I was quite active on here for a while a little less than 5 years ago when my son was born. I developed postpartum preeclampsia which caused heart failure. This group really helped me to recover from the emotional effects of everything. Today I meet with an MFM specialist to discuss the risks involv...

Re: scared about postpartum pre-e/HELLP

Hi there,

I believe that postpartum preeclampsia can occur up to 6 weeks after delivery, though through my experience and research, most women I have come in contact with have had it within 4-10 days after delivery.

Urinary Tract Infections after PE

In the last 16 months since I had my PPPE, I have had probably 10 urinary tract infections, none of which I have had any symptoms for. I have only learned that I had them when I went to the doctor for something else and they found it through urinalysis. During my pregnancy I did not have 1 single UT...

Re: Feeling hopeless-hormonal birth control after PE

What are some of the reasons that your doctors told you no hormonal birth control? I feel like I am fighting an uphill battle with my doctor about this so I'd like some specific reasons to give her as to why I'm not comfortable.

Re: scared about postpartum pre-e/HELLP

Hi there, I'll be honest...your symptoms worry me. I developed PPPE and my doctor diagnosed me before my urine protein test was complete. I asked him what it could be if I didn't have protein and he said "A first year medical student could tell you have PE (because of my blood pressure, which was si...

Feeling hopeless-hormonal birth control after PE

I was recently diagnosed with PCOS after having 3 ovarian cysts rupture in the last 3 months. My specialist wants me to go on NuvaRing to stop these cysts from growing. After I developed my PPPE & heart failure, my OB told me I was never to go on hormonal birth control because of the risks. My new s...

Re: Long-term impacts from Pre-e/HELLP?

You know, this is such a good quetion, and one that I think about often. I haven't felt the same since having PE. I feel healthy again, although who knows if I actually am! But I feel, and forgive me for using this word, "stupider." LOL. I feel like I can't get out what I am thinking and when I try ...

Re: Racing Heart?

I would never discourage anyone from getting medical help, but I can say that a racing heart is extremely common in pregnancies. What is not normal though is how your heart will appear right now if you get an echocardiogram. Pregnancy does all kinds of funny things to your heart, such as increasing ...
