Re: My daughter turns 3... Thank you all.

Mine turned 16 a couple of weeks ago. Every year, at 7:34 on July 12, I pretty much still cry on cue, or at least get misty-eyed. This year, she wasn't even home; she was in San Francisco at camp! I still remember; her birth was quite traumatic for us both and we both bear lifelong scars and challen...

Re: Update On Me

Also, anything you can do to strengthen your immune system: eating right, getting enough sleep (hard to do with a baby, I know!), will really help improve your chances of fighting off the virus that causes dysplasia. I've had several procedures (one after my hysterectomy, which wasn't for that reaso...

Re: holding your baby in the NICU

No one had held my daughter yet and she was 37 weeks...and she still got NEC and needed drastic surgery to survive at 48 hours old. PLEASE don't torture yourself. They don't know what causes it, but w/premies as little as yours, the thought is that the gut is tissue-thin and so bacteria can get in a...

Re: Spamming

Another forum that I frequent, which uses the same software, is having a similar problem and has had for several months now. Hope it's not a weakness in the software, as it's very helpful for forum templates otherwise!

Re: How much weight did you gain

In the end, I gained almost 70 lbs  . The first clue was after a cross-country trip to New Orleans. Salty food, long flight, long hours of work. But when I saw the midwife the next week, her comment was, "I only let my mothers gain 20 lbs through the whole pregnancy". I had gained something l...

Re: Survivors in North OC/LA/Inland Empire?

I work in OC and live in LA, my daughter is a teen now and I am way beyond child-bearing now (hysterectomy in 2002). I'm now starting to track the idea of our long-term health and might be interested in an occasional meet-up.

Re: Back in NICU ***UPDATE

I know reflux can cause problems like that, but glad to hear he's home. That's pretty easy to diagnose and treat, too. Now to just stay home and stay healthy!

Re: Emotionally Dealing with HELLP Over a Year Later

It took a long time for me, and I'm a healthcare professional who knew, intellectually, what had gone on. I still to this day mourn that loss of the "normal" delivery, and pay a physical price (lymphedema of my legs and other things) thanks to our experience fifteen-plus years ago. I do think that t...
