Re: aspirin side effects on babies

Then you have time to get your head around the possibility of a VBAC - thinking about either kind of delivery is somewhat scary! FWIW, with my last pregnancy I was getting care at a facility where VBACs were supported, but ended up with a repeat CS because I had PROM and wasn't even a tiny bit in la...

Re: Heading down the PE road again?

Hooray for being busy postpartum with a new baby. :) From 2011 to 2015 is outside the 2-year window, but so is from 2006-2011 when you didn't have a recurrence, so whatever's going on in your case is maybe less related to interpregnancy interval. I'm finding all that new data really fascinating and ...

Re: Chance of pre-e with 3rd pregnancy

Hi, and welcome! Congrats on your new pregnancy. I'm not sure there's an established connection between any particular placental location and preeclampsia risk, but I did find one study (from Sudan) connecting placenta previa and a lowered risk of preeclampsia: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/234...

Re: Edema without diagnostic BP

Technically swelling isn't a symptom because pregnancy hemodynamics are so weird that normal pregnancies are really likely to involve swelling, but swelling in the face is always concerning. The fluid *should* have somewhere lower to go, and it doesn't because all her tissues have too much fluid for...

Re: aspirin side effects on babies

Hi, and welcome to the forums - I'm glad you found us! Before they decided to recommend aspirin for preeclampsia, they ran some large trials and checked for effects on the baby, and there weren't any harms to the babies at all. I didn't take it with my daughter, but that was because my MFMs and I de...

Re: Postpartum PE w/ 1st pregnancy - how was 2nd pregnancy?

Hi, and welcome! Those rough landings are miserable. The good news is that usually women get it again later, and more mildly, if they do get it again. The idea is that in subsequent pregnancies, the uterine arteries have already been remodeled by the prior pregnancy, which makes the implantation of ...

Affect of vitamin D supplementation during pregnancy

"Incidence of preeclampsia, GDM, SGA, low birth weight, preterm birth, and cesarean section were not influenced by vitamin D supplementation." http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/25813278 This does not surprise me at all. Here's an article I wrote a while back explaining why this seems unlikely to he...

Welcome Earthside, Ben!

It sounds like you're finding a new normal, even with a rougher landing than anyone would choose. Your tone is delighted and contented, even with that dehiscence. How have your pressures behaved postpartum?

Re: Heading down the PE road again?

Can I ask how many years were between your second and your third, and if your partner was the same? There's some really interesting new research about interpregnancy interval, as well as some on the partner contribution. I'm glad you were monitored so closely - keep an eye on your pressures postpart...
