Re : I am NOT helping myself...

<t>I can speak to this--as while I had PE three times, the first (despite six weeks of bedrest) didn't hit my radar (I was 23--I wasn't reading anything and we didn't have cable). #2 was fine and #3 I was even moved to a midwife for care--that's when I nearly died (NOT blaming the midwife). SO, when...

Re : Late introduction =)

<t>It is so heartwarming to hear you ladies share this sentiment. I know from personal experience how scary it is to go through this and have people not get it and before everything--our #1 mission was that if we can help just one woman who goes through preeclampsia feel she is not alone, then we ha...

Re : NYTimes: Pregnancy Problem Is a Heart Warning

<t>I finally had a full cardiac work-up last year (at 46) and saw a cardiologist. She actually had worked with my OB and knew "who I was" so she SCOLDED me for waiting so long. I was supposed to get my baseline at 40--not six years later. Good news--all healthy--but it was a basic treadmill, EKG, an...

Re : Update

<t>Hey there--I can relate. There is nothing more stressful than the pregnancy AFTER your first (and hopefully only) preeclampsia/HELLP experience. I'm fairly sure I set a record for the number of calls about this or that. I did everything everyone suggested above, wrote down my questions, tracked m...

Re : Congratulations, Dr. Lindheimer!

<t>I can personally say with all honesty--Dr. Lindheimer is a big part of the reason we've had some of the successes we've had--he is the one who brought in Dr. Karumanchi to the fold, he's the one who introduced me to the World Health Organization doctors leading preeclampsia work--including Jose V...

Re : It's probably hellp again

<t>I'm with Catherine, Fiona, and Caryn--and I know at least two of us are HELLP survivors. Catherine and I would not be here today had we not been in the hospital when all h**l broke loose. I know Catherine barely made it--and I suppose I barely did as well. As Fiona said--0-60 in a nanosecond. I w...

Re : preeclampsia?

<t>Just chiming in as like Heather and Caryn and many others here--(I believe) we were under the care of midwives when things went south and we are supportive of using midwives when pregnancy is normal. Having gone from fine to dying in 12 hrs during the delivery of my 3rd child at 38 weeks (and und...

Re : Question about protien levels

I'd call. That's me though--but floaters and a headache that won't go away are important signs that things aren't right. When are you next seeing someone? If not soon, I'd go in and get checked out--it never hurts to play it safe.

Take care!

Re : Question about protien levels

<t>I personally wouldn't take anything OTC or Rx that wasn't specifically prescribed for my symptoms by my doctor. If you've got a headache that is so bad that you need vicodin, I would be darn sure your doctor is aware. This is not the time to rely on us, the internet or pregnancy books--that's wha...
