Preeclampsia/HELLP featured on HONY!

I don't know if this is the right board to post this, but I wanted to see if I could get this to someone in charge of the site. Humans of New York, a site run by photographer Brandon Staunton, featured the story of a man who lost his wife to HELLP/Preeclampsia on his site today: Here's the link: htt...

Re: Suddenly high BP. What do I do?

I went in and my admitting BP was 143/89. They had me lie on my side, and it dropped significantly. They did blood work and everything looked normal, so even though I had one more high BP (149/70), they sent me home. Baby looks good, so that's that. I have an appointment with my OB on Thursday, and ...

Re: Suddenly high BP. What do I do?

I realized I was being stupid and I was avoiding calling because I was afraid of the results. I called. I'm going in for blood work.

Suddenly high BP. What do I do?

Hi, guys! You've helped me through two pregnancies, and I'm back again. I'm almost 35 weeks pregnant, and for the first time, I've been having a normal pregnancy. I had preeclampsia with my first, which led to an emergency C-Section at 33 weeks. Second pregnancy led to HELLP and an early C-Section a...

Should I switch to an MFM

Hi, guys! It's been a while, but this site is near and dear to my heart, as you all supported me through two pregnancies, both of which ended in preeclampsia, and the second actually ended in HELLP too. I just found out I'm pregnant with my third baby. It's definitely a suprise (a happy one!), but I...

Re: Does lasting longer in subseq. pg always =better outcome

My first baby was delivered via emergency C-section at 34 weeks. It was terrible and traumatic and sucked all around -- except for the amazing baby boy I got to take home at the end of it. :-) My second pregnancy, the doctors were very cautious, so I was very cautious. They did extra labs and extra ...

Re: Woke up with pitting edema...

We're home! The magnesium sulfate was awful -- but I understand why they put me on it. At least it wasn't as bad as the first time around, because they were inducing labor when I had my son back in 2007. This time all the labor and that nonsense was over. My hospital is very mother-baby, so there is...

Re: Woke up with pitting edema...

Hi, guys, Baby Sam is great. He was born just after 4pm yesterday afternoon, and he's healthy and perfect. Snoozing all day. My platelets keep dropping. My headache is brutal. My pressures are awesome -- like 116 / 60. But they just hung mag sulfate because of the platelets and the headache. Now I'm...

Re: Woke up with pitting edema...

Well, I'm so glad my husband made me come in. Blood pressures aren't too bad but the bloodwork shows that my platelets have gone from 189 to 120 in less than a week. That plus pressures plus headache plus something else I can't remember (uric acid?) Means they are going to deliver today!! Say a pray...

Re: Woke up with pitting edema...

Thanks, guys. My husband says he's sick of screwing around. We're going to take our son to school in a few minutes, and then he's taking me straight to Labor & Delivery.
