<t>This post is of interest to me too. My mum had toxaemia with me 40yrs ago, and 2 days after my 40th birthday Ellie was delivered due to my severe pre-eclampsia. Talk about deja vue for my poor mum! I was delivered at 36wks weighing 5lb, Ellie was delivered at 27wks weighing 1lb 4oz.<br/> <br/> Su...

Re : NICU Restrictions

<t>Just read Kara's post and wanted to say that Ellie's records were open to us too. They were always there for us to read whenever we wanted. I didnt realise for the first few days and when I read them for the first time there was a funny moment reading about Ellie's two grandmothers coming to visi...

<t>I was admitted to hospital for bedrest and monitoring at 26+4 with bp 185/125 and 4+ protein. Was given nifedipine and methyldopa so bp came down, but they couldnt get a good variance on the trace for Ellie. At 27wks exactly I had a scan and doppler which showed Ellie hadnt grown since 24wks and ...

<t>We thought that I couldnt have children due to PCOS and related problems. I tried for years with my ex-husband. When I met Chris I told him it was unlikely we would be parents, but in 2002 we decided to try anyway, and 3 months later I was pregnant without any meds! Then the warnings started...wi...

Re : How many women here had a c-section due to Pre e

<t>I had an emergency c-section but it was for Ellie rather than for me. It was a case of getting her out before we lost her, so I went ahead with it asap with a spinal block. Im so pleased I was awake for the op as it was the only time I ever heard Ellie cry. She really squealed as she was born!<br...

Re : NICU Restrictions

<t>Our NICU was great. 24 hour visiting, max 2 people at a time, one of whom had to be a parent. No gowns, just hand scrubbing. We were encouraged to be there for doctors rounds. There were 2 'quiet' hours a day, during shift changes when you were not allowed in there, but even that was flexible if ...
