Re: Atypical pre-eclampsia

Tachycardia was one of my first symptoms along with shortness of breath. Protein is no longer required for a diagnosis of PE. It's now high BP plus at least one other symptom, which could be protein but could also be a number of other things. Also, you don't need to have all three symptoms of HELLP ...

Re: Elevated BP Early in Pregnancy

Because your BP has gone up so early, you would be considered to have unmasked chronic hypertension. Even if you had normal BP before pregnancy, the idea is some of us have a predisposition toward high blood pressure that will be brought out at some point in our lives, and the stress of pregnancy is...

Re: Third baby no worry for HELLPS repeat?

So if I'm reading this right, your first pregnancy ended at 20 weeks with severe PE and HELLP? (I'm so sorry. That's horrible to go through.) And then your second pregnancy ended at 36 weeks with symptoms of PE and HELLP again? Did the high risk doctors diagnosis you with either that time? The guide...

Re: New here, looking for resources

Whether you choose to see an OB or MFM depends a lot on the doctor and your own preferences. Some OBs feel comfortable working with higher risk patients up to a point, some are quicker to refer to MFM. My first OB was terrible (lost his license after losing a patient) but the MFM who took over my ca...

Re: Signs of Preeclampsia but Want Natural Birth - too dangerous?

I also have planned for a completely natural birth, and ended up with three inductions for PE. You should have a serious discussion with your doctor about exactly what signs s/he is seeing, and the benefits and risks of inducing now vs waiting. But even if you decide to move forward with an inductio...

Re: Worried and scared and just a bit confused.

You and your doctor are doing all the right things. The current recommendation is to deliver at 37 weeks even for mild preeclampsia or pregnancy induced hypertension. The results of the labs will give you a clearer picture. Catching it early is the best way to ensure a good outcome for you and baby....

Re: HASTA CUANDO PUEDO HACER EJERCICIO Y MI VIDA NORMAL DESPUES DE TENER UN SINDROME DE HELLP ..

I'm so sorry for your loss. I have a friend who lost her sister to HELLP. Baby Drew survived and is 12 now. It was a long, hard road for the whole family.

Re: Proteinuria and Preclampsia

Have you had PE in a previous pregnancy? It could be that your protein never returned to normal, and this is your normal. It's also possible that you have some form of kidney disease that hasn't been diagnosed yet. If you continue to have problems, you may want to see a kidney specialist now or in t...

Re: Scared and not sure what to expect

You have a number of concerning symptoms that could indicate preeclampsia and/or HELLP syndrome. I'm surprised they released you instead of doing the urine catch in hospital. One of the hardest parts about this condition is that many of the symptoms could be preeclampsia, could be regular pregnancy ...
