Re: 22 weeks & Confused/Scared

I'm not a doctor, but I would expect you to be monitored very closely. If you have a home blood pressure cuff, you should check it at least daily and if you feel off, and report any spikes immediately to your doctor. I'd expect frequent blood work to look for HELLP syndrome and ultrasounds to make s...

Re: Preeclampsia and law Pappa level

Preeclampsia is caused by a poorly functioning placenta, usually due to problems implanting way back in the beginning. Your trip to the mountains could not have caused it. As for what causes a placenta to implant badly, it's thought there are a number of possible causes. Sometimes it's due to the mo...

Re: Pregnant after HELLP - lots of questions

Welcome and congrats on your pregnancy! 1. I would make a plan for both a VBAC and a RCS. It's good for any woman, regardless of risk factors and best-case wishes, to think through what she would want in various situations. 2. The most recent research I saw found low dose aspirin does NOT increase t...

Re: possibly effected

I do think it's possible for some of the lesser symptoms of PE to show up before your blood pressure goes up. I had a number of warning signs for five weeks before my blood pressure finally went up and stayed up. One of the difficulties in diagnosing PE, though, is that a lot of these symptoms can a...

Re: Infertility/Miscarriages after Pre-e & HELLP?

I'm so sorry for your losses. I've had six pregnancies total, three miscarriages (2 in first tri and 1 in second) and three preterm births due to PE. A lot of the same risk factors that make you prone to PE also make you prone to miscarriage. I have heterozygous MTHFR A1298C and an autoimmune diseas...

Re: Pregnancy #6

I lost the baby yesterday at 13 weeks. I'm in shock. It was such a hard pregnancy, but at every ultrasound (5 or 6) and as recently as Tuesday, baby looked perfect, strong heartbeat and active. We named him Declan.

Re: pre eclampsia

Trust your instincts. Your very low baseline means your blood pressure could be a concern even if it doesn't get to the diagnostic line of 140/90. I had a number of warning signs exactly like you describe before my blood pressure went up and I got really sick. You should at least be monitored more c...

Pregnancy #6

Hello all, I was active here several years ago during my fifth (twin) pregnancy, and have been mostly lurking off and on since. I'm currently 10 weeks pregnant with my sixth pregnancy, Lord willing fifth living baby. I'll be blogging about my high risk pregnancy if anyone wants to follow me. First a...

Re: MFM appointment today

I understand. My husband had a vasectomy after our twins were born, then had it reversed a year ago. We're now on our 9th month TTC. The surgery was "successful" in that it returned flow, but quality wasn't as good as we'd like. Now we're trying to decide how far to go in attempting ARM. Fingers cro...
