Well, it is offical, we are moving to Akron, Ohio. Garth will start his internship in June. We went house hunting last week and found a house that we have put an offer on. The sellsers countered and we accepted. We are just now waiting for the approval of their bank. We will be just north of Akron in Stow.
We are kind of excited to move into another chapter of our lives, but the timing could have been better. I have my 20 week ultrasound this week and I should know within the next few weeks if the Rh Antibody that I have is going to cause an issue for the baby or not. If it isn't, then I think I may go to Ohio with Garth and Riley. If it is an issue, I think Riley will go with my parents and I will stay here in the DC area to have the baby. I will be having the baby at the end of July by C-section if everything goes well.
It has been such a nerve wracking time not knowing what is going to happen. We are trying to get our house ready here so that we can get it on the market soon. I sure hope we get it on the market soon. We close on the other house in just 5 weeks. It won't be fun to make two house payments.
It has also been hard not knowing what I should do about the baby - stay here with my doctors or move with my hubby and child. Decisions, decisions. Hopefully I will know more on Friday.
Well there is my misc. topic for the day. [:D] |

| I know how stressful moving can be and I did after having my baby not before! It would have been a difficult decision to move and leave my doctors who had been so great in my two previous pregnancies. You're smart in waiting for the results of the test and decide then. Keep in mind that I am sure there are great doctors where you are moving to. Good luck with selling the house too. Hard to say what this crazy market is doing. When we moved in October, we actually had to sell first as no one excepts contingencies of "have to sell home". Also in CA, the market moves fast so we had it on and off the market in 7 days. That helped with knowing what we could afford in VA. Good luck! |

Melissa - - - I am all to familiar with what you are going through. In my entire life I have moved 12 times and will be doing number 13 this year. It is an extremely trying time, but focus on moving forward. Because of my husband's job there have been two times that he has had to move ahead without us, and that will be happening this time also, but only for two months, due to my daughter's school. My sister also moved last year with only two months left in her pregnancy and was also high risk, she ended up doing very well.
I will tell you from experience staying behind can be both fun and difficult, but I am the type of person that just looks forward to moving on. With one of our moves our house did not sell for some time, so we did have two payments, but that was well worth being together as a family. Being apart, 'specially a great distance, can cause so much undue stress on the family, 'specially if you don't have family in the area you are in.
That said, it is truly so situation based, and you may find it is best to stay behind, but I just wanted to let you know that you are not alone, and that either way you go you ALL will be fine. Good luck with the move, Ohio is a great place. |

MEG - YOU LIVE IN BURKE???? SO DO I!!!!
How long have you lived here? We should get together before I go. I am hoping the VA market gets a little stronger for me as I get ready to put this place on the market.
Talk with you soon. |

Hi Melissa: I grew up in Ohio and went to Kent State which is a stones throw from the Akron area. It's a beautiful area and I hope you enjoy it.
Did you see the black squirrels on your visit? The story goes that a professor at Kent State brought them to the area from Canada(?) and they have pushed the gray and brown squirrels out. I grew up in Willoughby which is about an hour north of Stow on Lake Erie. We don't have black squirrels there. My mom would scream whenever she saw them when she visited me in Kent. She thought they were rats! Oh boy, the memories are coming back now.
You will also be close to Geauga Lake Six Flags which is a fun amusement park. Haven't been there in years. Do you like roller coasters? Cedar Point isn't too far away.
Good luck with your decision about the baby. |

Thanks Betsy and Jill.
I am very excited to be starting a new chapter. I don't mind it too much. But I will miss some of the people that I have really grown close to. We had so much support from our friends here when we lost Kelsi. Her funeral was standing room only and it wasn't exactly a small room. Homes aren't selling too fast in Ohio and I think I may end up staying there with the house for a bit until it sells for the next leg of our move. Here in Virginia, luckily they are moving within a month or so. Let's hope that keeps up.
Jill - We are about a mile or so from the Kent State University Airport - hope that isn't a horrible thing. [;)] We are just off of Fishcreek Rd??? I didn't see any black squirrls, I will have to look for them. I have to speak with my insurance to see what they will do if I do happen to go with him. I currently have an HMO - Anyone know if they have KP over there??? I am not being seen by any of the KP doctors here anyway. They transferred me out to the Peri group - Thank goodness. I had heard about Cedar Point, but don't think my docs would let me visit this year. Perhaps next. I LOVE roller coasters. Unfortunately DD and DH can't handle them at all. I will have to find some roller coaster friends. [;) ] |

Do you mean Kaiser Permanente? Yes, I think that it is in the Cleveland area. We were with KP in Southern California a few years back. I liked it.
Fishcreek Rd sounds familiar. When in college, I was one of the car-less, so my memories of the area don't venture too far from the campus' edge.
Cedar Point has a wonderful children's playground. We were just there last year. DD loved it. It's huge with lots to do, so your family can camp out there while you ride the coasters! Go to Johnny Rockets (pretty-boy waiters dance to the oldies) in the park for lunch with milkshakes. |

Ya Melissa - that's the insurance company I used in Akron. Tell them 'bout me - I'm sure they'll remember!
You're right about the housing market in OH - months to sell a house. The one we bought was on the market for about 180 days before we put our offer. Our house in Kansas sold in about 50 days. |

Melissa,
I am so sorry to hear that you are moving. We need to get together before you leave. Are you excited about the level II ultrasound? What a hard decision to make. I am sure you all will make the right one once you have all of the information. The peri's we see are great, but I am sure you could find great drs there too. Hang in there. Maybe we can get together sometime after Easter weekend.
Take care,
