NIH Study

We have been asked by the National Institute of Health to partner in a study to test the DNA of 50 of our members and their extended families. If you are interested in participating in this study--you must have had
a) preeclampsia in the past two years
b) a surviving infant who you are willing to swab the inside of their cheek with a Q-tip to collect a DNA sample
c) willingness to ask members of your immediate family to donate saliva samples (you will just provide them with the package and they will be able to mail it directly to the lab.)
d) willingness to fill out an NIH survey.

Hi! I am interested in participating.

Right now the requirements for participation include:

1) Had preeclampsia or HELLP in the last two years
2) With your first pregnancy
3)Your baby survived (they want to get DNA samples from the babies)
4) You will donate saliva (to donate you take a cotton swab that is provided and rub inside your cheek and then put that sample in a plastic bag that is provided and put that into a pre-addressed and prepaid envelope and mail it in)
5) You can convince most of the following people to donate saliva samples :
your partner or parent of the baby, the baby
your mother and father, biological sisters, brothers, their spouses/partners and the resulting first born of that union
your partner's mother and father, biological sisters, brothers, their spouses/partners and the resulting first born of that union
6) I am not sure but this MAY be restricted to residents of the USA. I will find out and post it here.

Update on this. We are working with the NIH to finalize the questionaire and we will need to get what is called an IRB (Institutional Review Board) approval before we start. We are hoping to launch it in July/August.

Every registered member will get an email notifying them that the study has started and some details and we will also put a big notice on the forum.

Because I would love to participate though was diagnosed with pih durring my pregnancy. Let me know and I'll start convincing our family...lol
