I love to help any way I can esp something that I am passionate about like this subject. I would love for every newly pregnant women given from her Dr a list of syptoms and information. I was shocked to learn it was the number one killer and I hadn't eveb heard of it til it affected me at 34 weeks pregnant with first. Then the seriousness wasn't conveyed.

This is kind of late in the game but I am a new member...I have a BA in Geography and Disaster Science Management. I work as a Homeland Security Consultant. Unless the preemies of the world form some sort of militia, I bet you're wondering what I can offer. Well I have managed Grants with the Dept of Homeland Security for the State of LA and I have many many contacts that can get pretty high up. Although I can't promise anything, I think that in Baton Rouge, a chapter would not only be welcomed but needed. We have a pretty well-known Woman's Hospital (they are featured on the Discovery Channel's "Birth Day Live" each year) There is a team of fantastic Maternal-Fetal Medicine specialists here also. So if the org is looking to expand down here, I think the market is wide open! Let me know what I can do to help!

passion, talent, job...

Not sure how this would fit in, but I recently (its been two years, already?) completed my doctorate in chemistry, which was in progress when I was hit with PE and HELLP. I'm currently a director of a scientific instrumentation laboratory at a Big 12 university, a psuedo-faculty position. I have a strong background in computers, training people one-on-one, and classroom teaching, of course. I'm located in the center of the country, and haven't seen evidence of a 'chapter' in this area. As far as organizing people (rather than molecules) my real-life skills are limited to college organization leadership and membership. I'm currently pres. of our local American Chemical Society chapter.

I'd love to help out in any capacity - online or in my community. After reading over and over the missed diagnoses - we've got to be heard. National TV, newspapers, magezines, books, medical journals... anywhere to get the attention of hordes of doctors and nurses.

It's been a while, since I also work as a Building Automation Controls estimator. That's my main career - estimating, but I'm not too rusty at the printing if you need any help. [:)]

Just found this thread (yes, I WAS mama's slow child) and thought I'd pitch in with my little career. I'm a pharmacy technician. That's right...I'm all about the drugs. Drugs are, strangely enough, my passion. You'd think I'd become a full-fledged pharmacist, but alas, chemistry is my arch-nemesis.

Prior to becoming a pharm tech, I was an administrative assistant for 8 years. I also have experience in proofreading--I'm an excellent grammar and spelling nazi. Seriously. I'm scary.

Just found this thread (this place is huge.) I will be no help unless you need a science writer (BA in English, most of a BS Physics/Astro but I didn't finish the last two quantum classes because I got pregnant and stuff) or a violinist (most of a BM in violin performance.) Currently I work as a private violin instructor, a violinist for hire, sometimes an architectural drafter on CAD. I used to direct traffic for a job back in college. DH won't be much help either; he's ABD in philosophy of science, specifically philosophy of biology.

But we will provide bodies for local events!
