What does your "membership" status mean?

Most of you may have noticed that under your name it says something like "starting member" or "junior member" or whatever and you (like me) wonder--now how did I rate that membership?? I can't tell you but thought I would ask and maybe we could get an answer from the great and mighty webmaster (aka Laura).

I know one thing--it has nothing to do with one member being cooler than another.

I would think that maybe it has to do with the number of posts one has??? I only saw this because another board I belong to - lab related - has the same sort of thing.

Annie, Annie, Annie, you never play with your admin section, do you? [:P]

Kris is right, the ranking configuration is based on number of posts:

Starting Member 0 Posts
New Member 50 Posts
Junior Member 100 Posts
Advanced Member 500 Posts
Senior Member 1000 Posts
Mentor Member 5000 Posts

Moderators are discussion leaders and watch to make sure things flow smoothly and that everyone is familiar with forum policy.

Administrators help and recruit the moderators and can add, delete, archive, and move topics and forums. They have access to member information and can help reset lost passwords, and help register if you're having problems, and help decide forum policy. (Me for now, but Anne and Ileana both have access to admin functions, too, and can pinch hit when needed [;)])

Webmasters help update and maintain the pages on the main site, and technical aspect of the forum. (Me)

The IT Coordinator oversees the main site, forum, and registry. (Ileana)

I am so ashamed. My own organization and I didn't know. Thank you thank you Laura and Kris. Well--hey--if I didn't know--I bet there are others that didn't know either!!

I had wondered the same thing too when I first came here.

Ladies, if you'll notice, I added another level of memberships, starting at 5,000 posts. (that's not as far off as you'd think, I'm already at 3,000) The names are changeable, and we may adjust them as we need to.
