Hey there! My goodness, I know exactly what you're feeling, and that's the same reason I ended up here, too, except my hypertension set in at the end of my second trimester.
Here's some news that might may you feel a bit better... when hypertension sets in that early in pregnancy, usually doctors won't think it is preeclampsia, but chronic essential hypertension. And the good news about chronic hypertension is that your chances of developing full blown preeclampsia are around 25%, and if they are able to get your blood pressure under control, your chances of having a healthy pregnancy are really, really good.
The protein, however, is very concerning. Have they ordered a 24 hour urine to find out exactly what it's running? Hopefully antihypertensive meds will help with that, too. Hang in there. I'll bet they'll be able to help you, and you'll end up delivering a nice healthy 8 lb-er on your due date [:D] At least we can keep our fingers crossed! Let us know how your appointment goes.
