Any Advice On Avoiding A Failed Induction?

Nine years ago today, my oldest daughter was born. My B/P was 200 something over 100 something when they induced my labor at 38 weeks. I was in labor for 15 1/2 hours when they decided to do a C/S, because of failure to progress. My 2nd was born at 36 weeks and I was able to have a VBAC. With her they gave me 2 treatments of the cervical gel. I think that stuff really helpped. Do you ladies have any other advice. I was told at my last visit that if everything stays good then we are inducing around the 19th! I will be 38 weeks! I just want to have another vaginal birth and I guess, because of it being at the 38 week mark like my first, I'm a little worried about a C/S.

since you have already had 2 children, the chance of the induction failing is much lower then it was the first time. Most woman on their subsequent pregnancies are already having contractions and are already somewhat dilated and thinning by 38 weeks. My second pregnancy I was already 25% effaced and dialeted to 1, and having contractions every 10 minutes when they induced me at 36 weeks.

My best guess is your more likely then not to have another successful induction.

LOL!!! Hey, that never worked for me! If I would have stopped while I was pregnant though, maybe I would not be preggo again today! LOL

No, really though, I think that there is no real sure fire ways to prevent a failed induction. Your body is going to do what it will do. And of course it all depends on that stubborn baby too. My hardest induction was with my 3rd one. And he was only induced at 38weeks. He did not want to move down and I begged my OB to break my water, I knew this would help since I gave birth to my daughter only 3 hours after my water broke. Anyway, he wanted to hold off as long as he could because neither one of us wanted a c-section. Breaking my water put us on a time schedule. He broke my water once the baby had progressed enough that he knew that I was going to deliver vaginally. He was born 2 hours later! (I still think him breaking my water would have avoided Loooooong grooling hours of labor!) Oh well...hes here today safe and sound, Just have all that to look forward to again! UGHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
